It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Perry (Steward) Anderson, on November 10, 2024 at the age of 57. Leaving to mourn his loss, his loving mother June Dyke and Stepfather Bert Dyke and father Steward Anderson; brother Stirling Anderson, sister Nadine Schumont (Ron); sister Claudine Anderson (Mark); brother Lawrence Anderson; long time business partner and close friend Neil Rideout; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by grandparents Gladys and Walter Jones; Louise and Jim Anderson. Perry was a brilliant innovator and a true Renaissance man. With a degree in programming, he mastered 12 programming languages and 27 development platforms, collaborating with industry leaders at Matrix Technologies, Capital One, and more. His greatest achievements came through founding Unified Objects LLC and Exparx, Inc., where his visionary ideas pushed the boundaries of technology. A passionate advocate for open-source platforms like GitHub and SourceForge, Perry’s contributions shaped the modern tech landscape, leaving a profound impact on social media and financial systems. Despite his professional brilliance, Perry remained humble and kind, always making others feel valued. In his free time, he wrote prolifically, from his book Hammer Is a Word to technical papers on emerging technologies. A dedicated gamer, he built virtual empires in Second Life and formed lasting friendships in World of Warships. Perry’s legacy of innovation, generosity, and connection will forever inspire those fortunate enough to have known him. OLIVE MARJORIE HUSSEY
Passed peacefully away Dec. 8, 2024, Olive Marjorie Hussey at the Miller Centre in St. John’s NL at the age of 96 years. Olive was born in Whitbourne, NL on July 22, 1928 to Caroline and William Kennedy. She is pre-deceased by her husband of 51 years, Robie Hussey. Olive leaves to mourn her children Ruth Fenton (Raymond – deceased), Randy Hussey (Yvonne), Carol Hussey (Jim), Stan Hussey (Dianne), Lisa Piercey (Ralph), and Neil Hussey (Dianne), as well as her cherished grandchildren Dustin, Brandy, Stacey, Lindsey, Suzanne, Heather, Shawn, Kyle, and Shane, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Olive’s life, a life well lived, will take place in 2025. Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Miller Centre for their compassion and care of our mother in her last days. Our heart-felt thanks also to the staff at the Karwood Retirement Retreat in Paradise where Mom lived for the past 9 years for all their kindness and care of Mom over those years, as well as to her many friends there.
