Viola Eileen Reid (Warren)

Viola Eileen Reid (Warren)

December 18, 2021

It’s a beautiful blessing that our Mother, Viola “Eileen” Reid is at peace with The Lord, and her parents Percy and Phoebe (Higdon) Warren, her sister Ruby, and stepmother Gladys. Born and raised in Chapel Arm in 1936, Mom passed away on December 18, 2021 with her family at her side and in her prayers: Barry and Valerie (Jade, Travis), Todd and Sheri (Ryan, Heidi), Karen and Diane, Ford and Loretta (Josh, Dylan), Lori and Ken (Megan and Miranda), Jackie (Zach, Mariah), Rodney and Connie (Max), Ross and Lisa (Chantelle). Mom was a special great “Nan” to Zahara, Ameera and Niyyah, Zander, Karson, Harlan, Lucy, Madison and Mason. She will be forever missed by her sisters Lydia and Lucy (both in Ontario), her brother Winston (Newfoundland), and a large circle of friends, in particular her very best friend Betty Newman.  Mom is also survived by our Dad, Max (Judy).

We had many good laughs with Mom – she loved a good time. That she lived with and battled dementia every step of the way for the past 12 years is a testament to her strength. She was a nurturer and a giver – her volunteering was legendary. She was faithful to her children, to her beliefs and to God. She was a disciplinary, yet she was meek and mild and loved by everyone. When she wasn’t knitting or sewing, Mom was making bread, with the butter and molasses freely flowing (heels were a highlight) – and everyone in Chapel Arm knew it!  Her hugs were legendary – you weren’t getting away from her without one (usually a double dose), but more importantly, she taught you to give hugs as you would receive. Mom, you are and always will be, our Sunshine!

A very special thank you to all the staff of 3SE Tower at Pleasant View Towers, especially Michelle (head Nurse Practitioner) and Melissa (Resident Manager).  Your unwavering care and compassion for our Mother over the past several years is truly and eternally appreciated.

Visitation will be held at Holloway’s Funeral Home in Whitbourne on Sunday, December 19 from 10:30am to 12pm, and 2-4pm. Funeral service to follow at Holloway’s on Monday at 1:30pm, officiated by Mr. Klinton Jacques and Mom’s sister, Lucy Warren. Mom will be laid to rest next to her Dad at the Un-Denominational Cemetery in Norman’s Cove.

Please be advised that all public health COVID protocols including proof of vaccination will apply during visitation and the funeral.

On December 20 the Funeral Service will be for immediate family only due to COVD-19.
