Theresa Jarvis

Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, June 14, 2024,Theresa Jarvis of Fair Haven, aged 103 years.    She is predeceased by her husband John, sons Herbert and Clarence, daughter Florence, son in law Bill, daughter in law Edna, sister Ethel and step brother Cecil.   Leaving to mourn with cherished memories are her children, Wally(Phyllis), Ethel, Jessie (Tom), Gordon (Doris), Norman (Frances), Hilda (Terry), Carol (Doug), 23 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren and special friend Gertie Jarvis.   We would like to thank the staff of the 6th floor and Emergency Department of the Carbonear General Hospital for their exceptional care in her final days. We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to her homecare worker of 6 ½ years, Rona Reid, for her outstanding care and compassion to mom.  Also, her former homecare worker, Beatrice Reid, for her excellent care of mom.    Visitation will take place on Monday, June 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 at St. Paul’s By the Sea, United Church, Fair Haven. A celebration of Theresa’s life will take place on Tuesday, June 18 at 2:00 pm from St. Paul’s By the Sea, United Church, Fair Haven. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Fair Haven.    Flowers graciously accepted.

Terry Douglas Pruder

Terry Douglas Pruder March 28th 1950 – June 2nd 2024 Terry Pruder passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 2nd 2024. He was born on March 28th 1950 in Brantford Ontario to Eileen and Gordon Pruder. He was a loving, caring and compassionate person to all and would do anything for anyone. He loved spending his time going to hockey games, taking out his boat and having a good old glass of wine with his family and friends. He always made you laugh and brought a smile to your face. Terry is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Charlotte Pruder; Kim Hawes; daughter (Ray), Paul Pruder; son (Tayna), Robin Piercey; step daughter (Brad), Vala La Ronde; step daughter (Trevor), Rodney Adshade; step son, 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, brothers Gord, Wayne Mike (Darlene) and many nieces and nephews. He was loved and cherished by all and will be greatly missed. Annie Mae Hindy

It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother, Annie Mae Hindy who passed away peacefully on May 30th 2024 at the age of 89 at Josiah Squib Pavilion Home in Carbonear. She was surrounded by her loving grandchildren in her final moments leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and unyielding love. Born on March 22, 1935 in New Melbourne, NL, Anne was the heart of her family and the pillar in her community. She was known for her generous spirit, infectious laughter, and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel special and loved. Anne dedicated her life to her family. She is survived by her 3 grandchildren: Jason Kriegel (Dwayne Kriegel), Paul Fellows & Tiffany Hindy, her 7 great grandchildren: Timothy, Amanda, Michael, Ashlee, Kyra, Jenna, & Jay. Sister: Greta Banton and many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish the memories and lessons she imparted. Her home was always open, a sanctuary of love, comfort and delicious homemade meals, where countless holidays and family gatherings were celebrated. Anne is preceded in death by her husband: Angus Doucette. Children: Loretta Kriegel (Kerry Kriegel), & Wayne Hindy. Sister: Clara Clark. Brother: Eldon Harris and parents Stella Mansfield-Harris & John Harris. Her life was a testament of love, resilience, and the importance of family. She enjoyed knitting and cooking which were her passions. A funeral service to honor Anne’s life will be held on Monday, June 3rd at 11:00am at Holloway’s Funeral home located in the town of Whitbourne, NL. SMITH, Clarence, It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a dear husband, father, grand-father and great grand-father and brother. Clarence Smith of Norman’s Cove. Predeceased by parents Seymour & Lucy Smith.  Infant brother Donald Seymour, sister-in-law Delores and brother-in-law Todd. Leaving to mourn are his beloved wife of 59 years Mary. Son Warren (Joanne ), daughters Alisa (Noel), Collette (Peter). Grand-children; Devin (Candace), William (Krystie),Noelle(  Travis), Jessie (Jon), Brandon (Amber), Riley and Abby. Maxwell Aaron Thomas Reid Sept 18, 1940 – April 15, 2024 It is with tremendous heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Maxwell Reid of Whitbourne on April 15, 2024. Predeceased by parents Isaac and Susie Reid, brother David and wife Mabel. In-laws Willis and Marjorie Lundrigan. Sister in laws Shirley and husband Graham Jackson, Rosalie Bailey and brother in-law Edwin Bishop. Left to celebrate his life is his wife of 59 years, Pauline (nee Lundrigan). Children: Paul (Evelyn), Kim (Bruce), Jeff (Carol) and David. Grandchildren – Jennifer (Chris), Trevor (Mary Elizabeth), Christopher, Krista (Stephen), Alyssa (Will), Jeffrey, Michael, Joshua, Ava and 11 great grandchildren who he loved dearly. MARTIN, Jayme

Martin, Jayme (1983 – 2024) – Passed peacefully away after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family. Pre-deceased by Grandparents Andrew & Sarah Power, Peter & Annie King, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. James Ross Thistle

James Ross Thistle October 1, 1945 – February 28, 2024 James Ross Thistle, of Goobies, passed away peacefully at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, on February 28, 2024. James, known as Jim, was born in Broad Cove, Conception Bay, to George and Helen Thistle. After finishing school, he moved to Fair Haven to work as a teacher in the local school at the age of 16. There, he met his wife of 56 years, Myrtle. They later settled in Goobies, and had two children, Nancy and Todd. Jim was known for his boundless energy and calm demeanor. And most often could be heard whistling as he went about his work and daily activities. Throughout the years, Jim could be found in his garage, in the woods or on the road camping and relaxing. His camping travels took him to the nooks and crannies of NL as well as other parts of Canada and the US. While he was very busy enjoying life, there was always time for his grandkids Jill and Grace. Jim is survived by his wife Myrtle, son Todd (Jackie and Jill), daughter Nancy (Sheldon and Grace); brother and sisters Dave (Betty), Rhoda, Dorothy (Norman), Brenda and Phyllis; sister in law, Rosie,  Wendy Collett. brother in law Albert, as well as a large circle of family and friends. The tears in our eyes we can wipe away, the ache in our hearts will always stay. Tenderly we treasure the past, with loving memories that will always last.
