PENNEY, Lydia Madge November 24, 1943 – November 05, 2021 Her journey is now complete and she is finally home.  Passed away surrounded by children and grandchildren Nov.5, 2021 at her daughter’s residence in Torbay.  Predeceased by her husband David, her parents Fanny & Llewellyn Crisby, brother Howie, mother & father in-law Aubrey & Lavenia Penney. Leaving to mourn daughters Lisa(Bob Burke), Linda(Todd Coady) and son Kevin(Melissa & her children Waltie & Tiana).  Grandchildren Morgan, Heather, Owen, Lydia, Laura, Heidi & Cassie. Thomas Lahey November 20, 1928 – October 8, 2021 Passed peacefully away at the Veterans Pavilion St. John’s on Friday October 8, 2021, Korean War Veteran, Thomas Lahey age 92 years. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Lucy, parents-in-law Andrew and Sarah Power, brothers Joseph and Michael, sisters Agatha, Margaret Ann, and Dora, first-born twins Theresa and Jerry. He will be sadly missed by his wife Bride (Power) of 61 years, his 7 children Theresa (Gord), Jackie (Ron), Jerry (Jennifer), Elaine (Cliff), Andy, Tommy (Avril), David, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a large number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. A sincere thank-you to Dr. McKelvie, Dr. Abumus, and the nurses and staff at the Whitbourne Clinic and Carbonear Hospital. To the doctors, nurses, and staff at Veterans Pavilion, heartfelt gratitude for your professional and compassionate care during his final days. Thank-you also to the Sisters and Father Tony who visited and prayed with Tom. Not forgetting his compassionate home support worker Clarice Newhook and his dear friend Ted Newhook who spent so much time with Tom and was a faithful travel companion to monthly Legion meetings. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to and will occur at Holloways Funeral Home, Whitbourne and will take place Tuesday, October 12. ​​The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a private service at the funeral home from 12:30 to 1:00, visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00, and funeral service (by invitational only) will be held at 3:00, to be followed by interment at St. Joseph’s RC Cemetery, Long Harbour Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tom’s memory to the Parkinson’s Society NL.  

Griffin Edward Joseph passed away suddenly at his home in Chapel Arm on September. 20, 2021 in his 60th year.  Predeceased by his father (Vincent 2006)’ twin brother (Vincent 1961). Also his brother in law Greg who affectionately called him ‘Brother’ ‘ED’. Leaving to mourn his Loving Mother (Sadie) and (five) sisters and (six) brothers. Also a large circle of other family members and friends. He will be sadly missed by his loving companion Diane and his best friend and hunting buddy Dave Barrington who spent a lot of time in Millertown. Due to Covid restrictions burial will take place at a later date. And may he rest in peace.

Teresa Marie (Brown) Oosterhuis March 23, 1978 – August 15, 2021 With profound shock and sadness we announce the sudden passing of Teresa Marie (Brown) Oosterhuis. Teresa touched the lives of everyone she met in such a positive way. She had the voice of an angel and a heart of gold. She was always larger than life itself. Dear wife of Jason Oosterhuis. Momma T to Ivy, Ember, and Raine. Much loved daughter of Sue Brown (Jim), Jim Brown (Lori), loved daughter-in-law of Bob and Wendy Oosterhuis. Leaving broken-hearted sisters Julie-Ann Read (Mike), Stephanie Basi (Paul), brothers Denis Gregoire (Sherry), Jim Gregoire Jr (Sarah), sister-in-law Tracy Oosterhuis (Chris). Cherished auntie of Aiden Read. She will be missed by aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many friends . A family celebration of life will be held on August 25, 2021, at 3 p.m. at 48 Whitbourne Ave Ext, Whitbourne, NL. A family celebration in Ontario to be arranged. In memory of David Reid It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of David Reid on August 7th at St. Clare’s Hospital. David was born in Chapel Arm, “during a card game at Aunt Jessie’s house”- as he famously described it. He later moved to Clarenville where he began a 34-year career as a network technician with Terra Nova Tel/Bell Aliant. David was a kind, generous and funny man. He was always the first to lend a helping hand and was loved for his sense of humor. He enjoyed going on quad, hunting, fishing, visiting his cabin and cheering for his beloved Toronto Maple Leaf’s. David is predeceased by his parents, Cleophas and Josie Reid, siblings Tim, Don, Jimmy and Janie, and his niece Kellie. David is fondly remembered by his 2 children, Kelsey and Jacob, and their mother Yvette. He will be greatly missed by his siblings: Ivy (Austin), Edgar (Cindy), Gerry (Janice), Phyllis (Paul), Gord (Theresa), Otto, and Cleophas (Sarah), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. David will also be missed by his in laws Ed and Edwina Drover, Dean (Shelley), Chad (Caroline), and Jillian. David was loved and respected by many co workers, neighbors, and good friends. And while there are too many to mention everyone individually, the family would like to give a special mention to, Sharon & Dennis Benson, Ross and Dwitty Green, John & Marsha Rowe, Fred Slade, Donald Barker, Cecil Critch, and special friend Kelly Cooper. Passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family at the Placentia Health Care Facility,  Marcella Ann Lewis(Crawley) of Long Cove, on Thursday August 5th, 2021 aged 70 years old. Predeceased by her husband: Willis Lewis Sr, Grandson Brandon, Grand Daughter Kayla, Mother Rachel Crawley, Father Bernard Crawley, Brother Ben Crawley, Sister’s Florella & Mary Crawley.  Leaving to morn with fond & loving memories her children: Willis Jr (Terri), Kevin (Shelley), Mike, Dennis (Terri), Jeff, Daniel (Tanya), Jennifer. Sisters Edith & Madonna Crawley, Her 15 grandchildren and her 11 great grandchildren, and a large circle of family and friends. In keeping with Marcella’s wishes Cremation has taken place and as per Covid regulations there will be a private family service at the gravesite.

It is with great sadness and broken hearts the family of Myles Patrick Ralph (Age 63) announce his sudden passing.   Myles will always be remembered as the gentle, calm man who grew up loving everything related to the wilderness. If he wasn’t exploring life by the water, he was out embracing his freedom in the woods. Growing up in a small fishing community he developed an interested in building structures as a young child. After helping his father fish for many years, Myles became a certified Journeyman Carpenter in 1977 at Placentia Bay College. During his younger years he worked throughout Newfoundland, Labrador and Ontario on various construction projects. In 1994 Myles and Diane (wife) decided to call Grande Prairie, AB home in order to spend more time together as a family, and to create more opportunities for their future. Throughout the next 25+ years Myles continuously fulfilled his interests in fishing, hunting, golfing, curling, scuba diving, traveling, camping, woodworking, cards, cooking and most importantly spending time with the people he loved. In 2007 Myles and Diane built their dream cabin at One Island Lake, BC where they spent over 11 years of their free time hanging out with their “Lake” family.   Myles’s kind, loving, humorous personality found a way to put a smile on everyone’s face. His intelligence and life skills allowed him to experience and value life from the most beautiful perspective. In 2018 Myles and Diane decided to move back across Canada to build their beautiful retirement home in Bellevue, NL. Over the past few years Myles truly appreciated being back home and being surrounded by his roots. WARREN, Otto Clarence February 6, 1947 – July 15, 2021 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Otto. He is predeceased by parents Hazel and Clarence Warren, sisters Frances, Evelyn (George Mogridge), father in law Frank Gosse and brother in law Ted Gosse. Left with loving memories are wife Valerie, son Jay, daughter Tia Connolly (Mike), cherished grandchildren Anna and Liam, siblings Phoebe Bonita McLean (Al), Roger, Shelley. In laws; Cathy Spurrell (John), Sherry Pelley (Bruce), Richard (Sandra Luscombe), Randy (Trina), mother-in-law Martha Louise Gosse. Also left with fond memories are a large circle of extended family and friends. Cremation has taken place. The funeral will take place Tuesday, July 20 at 2 PM from Saint John the Baptist Church in Chapel Arm. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Long Harbour Road. PARSONS, Hector,Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center on July 12th, 2021, Hector Parsons of Whitbourne, NL, age 96 years.   Hector was predeceased by his loving wife Rebecca, parents Ellen Jane and Matthew Parsons, sisters Alice, Mildred and Lilly, brothers Will, Mose and step brother John Robert, step-brother, Hedley, and step-sister  Mary Jane son-in-law Edgar Dawe, and great granddaughter Piper.   Left with broken hearts and happy memories are his children Doris, Ruth (Stan), Roger, Juanita, Reg (Pam) and his special friend Drucella Penney. Also left to mourn are granddaughters Annette (Dennis), Jeanette (Colin), Jasmine and Majesta and grandsons Noah and Luke and great grandchildren Devon, Floyd and Klohee, sister-in-law Eva Drover,   as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews and friends.   Hector delivered the mail from Carbonear to Western Bay in the 1930’s, worked on a farm, he owned a mink ranch, worked on the railroad and at a henry farm. He proudly grew his own vegetables and shared his gardening techniques with anyone who was interested – the family looks forward to a bountiful tomato harvest this fall.   Also leaving to mourn wonderful and supportive friends Kevin and Goldie Mercer, Pauline King, Lorraine Warren and Gladys Cooper. Hector was a long serving member of the Loyal Orange Lodge.   Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00pm, 7:00-9:00pm and Thursday from 10:00 -12:00pm. Funeral to take place Thursday at 2:00pm at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church and Cemetery Whitbourne.   Due to COVID restrictions, if you would like to attend the church service you must pre-register by calling 709-759-3020.   Donations in loving memory can be made to the charity of ones choice.
