WILLIAMS – Victoria Olive passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital,  in the presence of her family on May 15, 2019.  Victoria Olive Williams (nee Best), born March 24,1934.  Formerly of Tack’s Beach Placentia Bay.  Predeceased by her husband, Donald and son William Eric.  Leaving to mourn sons; Wade, Paul, Clayton and Keith.  Daughters; Mary, Marilyn and spouses. Grandsons; Michael, Jonathon, Adam, Paul Jr., David, Brady, Derrick, Robert, Donnie. Granddaughters; Leanne, Kimberly, Tracy, Natasha, Crystal, Victoria and spouses. As well as 14 great grandchildren sister Matilda Green, ( Port au Bra, Burin)  also family and friends.  Resting at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church  Chapel Arm.  Visitation Thursday, May 16 from 2:00 – 9:00 pm. Friday, May 17 from 10:00 am – 9:00 pm. Saturday, May 18, from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon.  Funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 18th at 2:00 pm. No flowers by request of the family. Donations may be made to the Victoria Williams Memorial Fund.

Joyce Hutchings

Passed away suddenly but peacefully on May 3, 2019, Joyce Hutchings of Whitbourne, age 91. Predeceased by parents Elsie and Isaac Morgan, husband Fergus Hutchings, son Christopher Hutchings, brothers Harold Morgan, George Morgan, and Gerry Morgan. Leaving to mourn daughter-in-law Paula Hutchings, grandchildren Ian Hutchings and Carla Hutchings, sisters Violet Hickey (Owen, deceased) and Ruby Baker (John, deceased), brothers Stewart (Carrie) Morgan, and Herb(Bessie) Morgan, sisters-in-law Pearl Morgan, Dale Morgan and Fern Taylor, special friend Phyllis Morgan, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends. Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne. Visitation Sunday, 10:00 – 12:00, 2:00-5:00, and 7:00-9:00; Monday 10:00-12:00, 2:00-5:00, and 7:00-9:00. Marjorie June Browne

Marjorie June (White) Browne – June 29, 1957 to April 27, 2019 Marjorie passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Western Regional Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook. Left to cherish her precious memories are husband Bill, daughters and sons-in-law Melanie and Richard Cormier, Melissa and Doug Harrison, son Michael and two treasured grandchildren, Emily and Liam Cormier. Loved and missed by siblings Lorraine (Jack), Nancy (Paul), Fred (Elsie), Rose (Lloyd), Anne (Martin), Dave (Lorraine), Cathy (Gord), Trudy (Harve), and Bonnie (Bill). Fondly remembered by Bill’s siblings Dermot (Mary), Brendan (Laura), Pat (Marjorie), Kevin (Bernie), Jim (Sheila), Sheila, Howard (Pam), Betty (Francis), and Joan (Melvin). Marjorie also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends. Predeceased by parents, Max and Edith White, sister Mary Smith and parents-in-law Clarence and Julia Browne. Special thanks to the medical team at Western Regional Memorial, and especially to Dr. Smith whose empathy will always be remembered. Marjorie was well known for her creativity, generosity and thoughtfulness. She loved to share her talents by knitting, crafting and cooking for others. Marge was most caring and compassionate when providing help for those in need. She easily made friends wherever she went, often bonding over a game of cards or bingo. A donation in Marjorie’s memory to the Long Harbour Cemetery Fund or the Children’s Janeway Hospital is appreciated. Mary Catherine Power

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Catherine Power, aged 96. Mom passed peacefully away at Placentia Health Care Centre on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 surrounded by the love of her family. Predeceased by parents, Joseph and Sarah Ellen King nee (Pretty), 6 of her siblings of whom she was the oldest, her loving husband of 60 years, Martin, her sons James and Gerald, and daughters Rita and Lucy. Leaving to mourn with broken hearts and loving memories are son Bernard (Veronica), son Martin Jr., daughter Shirley, son Terry, daughter Sandra Smith (George), daughter Joyce Picco (Neil), son Barry (Janet), son Richard (Mary), son Glen (Kim). Sisters Celine Hammond & Agnes Keating (Ron) and brother.  Cecil King. Also leaving behind are her beloved 31 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. Wake will be held at St. Jerome’s Church in Long Harbour on Friday, April 26, 10 – 12, 2 – 4 pm, and 7 – 9 pm. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 27 at 11:00 am. Shirley M. Collett   August 29, 1931 of Fair Haven passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Lions Manor, Placentia. Predeceased by her husband Chesley, daughters Ruby and Cynthia.  Leaving to mourn with loving memories are her 4 sons and 3 daughters.  Hubert (Carrie), Harold (Laurie), Joe (Debbie), Paul (Paula), Barbara (Cyril), Geraldine (Gerard), Sherry (Shawn).  15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  3 sisters; Gertie (Hallett), Lillian, Phylis (Ernest) and 1 brother; Elwood (Mabel). Visitation will take place Thursday and Friday, April 18 and 19 from 2-4pm at St. Paul’s By the Sea United Church, Fair Haven.  Celebration of her life will take place Saturday, April 20 at 2pm. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to St. Paul’s By the Sea United Church, Fair Haven. Fahey (nee Smith), Doreen 1945-2019 Passed away suddenly and peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2019, aged 73 years, at her home in BELLEVUE, NL, in the presence of her loving husband of 34 years Thomas (Tom). WHITE – Gladys. July 24, 1924 – March 24, 2019. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Aunt Gladys White at the age of 94 years. Predeceased by her husband Garfield White, son Donald White, brothers John Thomas Newhook, Ernest Newhook, William Newhook and Frank Newhook. Leaving to mourn with heavy hearts, sister Bessie Newhook, brother Clarence (Cathy) Newhook, her niece and caregiver Sally Pike and a special friend Junior Power, her sister-in-law Gladys Newhook. Brothers, Dana Caroline , February 21, 1965 – March 20, 2019. It is with great sadness that the family of Dana Brothers announce her tragic passing on Thursday March 20th, from injuries sustained in a snow-mobile accident. Dana was born February 21, 1965 in Long Harbour. She is survived by her daughter, Shingi Murray (Richard Kaz); partner Carol Bélanger; parents, Cecilia & Gordon Brothers (Long Harbour); sisters, Kim Brothers, Long Harbour, Renee Nolan (Sean), Ontario, Nadine Brothers, St. John’s; brother, Sheldon (Shani), Ontario; nieces, Thea and Taylor; nephews, Peter, Sam and Liam; god-daughter, Deidre Keating and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Dana was predeceased by grandparents Dora & Clifford Brothers and Elizabeth & Dennis Murphy. Dana was a brilliant shining light with an intense love of life and a lover of all things, especially the arts, people, cats and a good racket. She touched countless lives during her 54 years on this Earth, known to many as an exceptional woman, daughter, sister, mother, partner and friend. An accomplished writer, councillor and tireless advocate for the under privileged. She was a fearless feminist, and as devoted to all of humanity as she was to her large circle of family and close friends. She was a traveller, a valedictorian, a Valentine Queen, a chef, doctor, honor student, protestor, class president and public speaker. A strong person stands up for themselves. A stronger person stands up for everyone else. Dana was the strongest! Despite her health struggles she gave back in every way.       Newhook, Arthur Caleb, Passed peacefully into eternal rest Arthur Caleb Newhook aged 83 years at the Health Sciences, St. John’s on Saturday, March 23, 2019 to be united forever with his wife Martha (2007).
