Norman Collett

Norman Victor Collett,January 22, 1934 – September 20, 2018. It is with deep sadness that the family of Norman Collett (aged 84 years) of Fair Haven, announces his peaceful passing on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 from Pleasantview Towers, St. John’s. Surrounded by his loving family he slipped quietly into eternal sleep where his soul shall rest in everlasting peace. Born and raised in Fair Haven, Norman married Wendy Masters ( also of Fair Haven) on May 26th, 1962 and they made their home in “The Bottom” where they shared life together and raised their family. To his wife he was a faithful husband of 56 years and to his three sons, two daughters and ten grandchildren he was a devoted father and grandfather. Norman is predeceased by : Son, Darrell; Parents, Ernest and Mildred; Sisters, Breta and Phylis; and an infant sibling. He leaves to mourn: Wife, Wendy; Daughters, Norma Collett, Sheila Collett(Wayne); Sons, Chris Collett, Dennis Collett(Cristina); Daughter -in-law, Maryanne Vandermeulan and Grand Children, Andrew Rogers, Krysta Rogers, Rachel Collett, Holly Collett, Matthew Collett, Sarah Collett, Lucas Collett, Asher Collett, Ashly Collett, Alexander Collett; Sisters: Rosie Brinston (Albert); Myrtle Thistle (Jim); Brother-in-law Clayton Collins; Mother -in-law, Joan Masters; Sisters-in-law Dorreen(Roy), Beryl Mechenton(Bruce); Brother-in-law, Brian Masters(Sherry); nieces, nephews and large circle of extended family and friends. Resting at St. Paul’s United Church, Fair Haven. Funeral Service to take place on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 at 2pm. Interment to follow at United Church Cemetery, Fair Haven. Visitation Saturday from 2pm – 9pm and Sunday 10 – 12. Donations in Norman’s memory gratefully accepted to St. Paul’s by the Sea Cemetery Fund.

Stella Blanche Elliott Morgan

Elliott Morgan, Blanche passed peacefully away on September 19, 2018 at the age of 72 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Blanche will be lovingly remembered by her husband Graham, her daughter Roxanne, son-in-law Gordon King and grand daughters Leigha and Emily ( Caledon, Ontario ). Blanche’s  beautiful  smile will always be missed by her brothers, Gordon Pike (June), Wayne and Tom, her sister Ada Pardy (Ned), special uncle Leo Hardiman and also by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by her late husband John Elliott, parents John and Florence Pike, Special  aunt Lillian and nephew Timothy Pardy. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held at St. Hilda’s Church in Bay L’ Argent A0E 1B0 on Monday, September 24 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Hilda’s Congregation Fund in memory of Blanche Elliott Morgan.  ” Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories”  unknown.

Vernon Henry Reid

REID, Vernon Henry, July 6, 1939 -Sept. 19, 2018. Well known businessman, Vernon Reid, passed away suddenly ay Newhook’s Clinic, Whitbourne, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by infant daughter, Valerie Jean,mother & father Fred & Bessie Reid, parents-in-law Samuel & Marcella Mercer, brothers; Fred & Darrell Reid, sister-in-law Vinnie & brother-in-law Robert Mercer Sr & Raymond Gosse  Leaving to mourn his wife of 61 years Melba, daughter Darlene (Rodney Moores). Grandchildren; Candee Reid, Stacy Reid, Sammi-Jo (Adam Reid). Great grandchildren; Billie Jean Reid, Cameron Reid, Morgan Keating, Damien Reid, Tyler Pilgrim.Survived by brother Ron (Bea) Reid. sisters; Marjorie Gosse, Phyllis (Irving) Moore, Jean (Wayne Pinsent), Betty (Larry) McIsaac, sister-in-law Ella Harnum, and close friends, George & Gloria Dawe, Tom & Frances Howe. Friday, Sept 21,  10:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Saturday, Sept 22, 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, Sept 22 at 4:00 pm from  St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blaketown. Margaret Norman

Margaret Norman, On September 13, 2018 the world lost a big heart and heaven gained a beautiful soul. Margaret Norman (nee Jackman) at the age of 69 took her last breath surrounded by much love while waiting in the wings to greet her home were her father Edward Jackman (1984), mother Rose Jackman (1993), mother-in-law Margaret Norman (1994), and father-in-law Mark Norman (1996). Left to honour her life is her husband of 49 years Gerry, her children Kim (Rob) Denis and Craig. Also her three grandsons Gregory, Luc, and Kyle, who were the center of her life along with her two great granddaughters Emily and Haleigh. She will be forever remembered by her brother Peter Jackman (pre-deceased Gloria), sister Fran Walsh (pre-deceased Harvey), and in-laws Mark (Monnie) Norman, Merrill (Donna) Norman, Yvonne (Pius) Greene, Morris (Delores) Norman, Grace (Ted) King, and Maureen Norman. Also many extended family and friends. At her request, cremation has taken place and family invite relatives and friends to visit on Friday, September 21, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Long Harbour between 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service to be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Church at 11 am with a reception to follow to the Long Harbour Community Centre. In lieu of flowers, she asked that donations be made to the Gathering Place. Although we have heavy hearts by her passing, we remember her amazing sense of humour and genuine affection for people through our tears.

Resting at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Bellevue. Thursday Sept. 13 from 3 pm – 9 pm. Friday, Sept. 14 from 10 am – 9 pm. Saturday, 10 am – time of funeral.

Jason Graham

GRAHAM JASON: Passed suddenly away at his Mom’s and Stepdad’s home in Norman’s Cove, August 29, 2018, Jason Graham age 44 yrs. Predeceased by father Richard Kenneth Graham, sister Michelle, Grandparents: Kenneth and Elina Belle Graham, Robert sr, and Pearl Pardy, uncle Denny Graham and cousin Kristen, aunt Ginger Pardy Ryan. Left to cherish the memories of their Dad is his precious daughter Bella Michelle and his son Zachary, mother Joan Pardy Callan, stepfather Wade Callan and his son Ashton, stepbrothers Evan, Hank and Keith Graham of New York. Also left to mourn the Graham family from Schenectedy, New York, Pardy and Cuff familes from Bonavista, St. John’s and Grand Praire, AB, the Callan family, a large circle of other relatives and close friends. Also special friends from New York and Deluth, MN. Family wishes to extend a sincere Thank-You to the Paramedics, RCMP in Whitbourne, Holloway’s Funeral Home and Wade and John Callan. At Jason’s request cremation has taken place. Funeral service will take place at Memorial United Church in Bonavista on Sept. 23rd 2018 at 2pm. Inurnment at the United Cemetery Bonavista.

Deborah ( Debbie) Thorne

THORNE, Deborah ( Debbie), Passed peacefully away on August 30, 2018 at the age of 59, surrounded by her loving family and devoted husband of 42 years, Calvin. Predeceased by parents George & Genevieve White, parents in law Cecil & Emily Thorne and her grandson Nathaniel. Left with fond and loving memories are her devoted husband Calvin Thorne, children; Tonya (Douglas) Somerton, Keith (April) Thorne, Justin (Krista) Thorne and grandchildren Tamera, Kaitlyn, Racheal, Isabella, great grandson Tai and her best friend Jean Smith. Also left with loving memories are those she considered family, Donnie Hutchings (Elaine) and Jessica Mason (Iyla, Avery). Siblings; Wilfred (Irene), Barb (Harry), Terry (Jean) and Dean (Nancy), as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Resting at Holloways Funeral Home, Whitbourne, on Saturday September 1 from 3-9pm and Sunday September 2 10am-9pm. Funeral service will be held from Trinity South Salvation Army Corp on Monday, September 3 at 11am.

Mavis Jean Suley

Mavis Jean Suley 1930 – 2018
On August 23, 2018 , our loss became Heaven’s gain on August 23, 2018 when our precious Mother, Mavis Jean (Smith) Suley, aged 88 years, passed away at Carbonear Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband George Suley, her son, Calvin George Suley, her sister Shirley Sheppard (Harvey), brothers- G. Randell Smith(Hilda), Harold Smith (Alma), and Arthur (Ted) Smith, and her parents Arthur and Daisy Smith.; brothers-in-law Joseph Suley (Isabel), Gordon Suley & Arthur Suley (Margaret).
Left with fond and loving memories are her three daughters Sandra Russell (Dereck), Marilyn Rees (Irwin); Rhonda Fowler (Calvin) and son Terrance Suley (Faith); six grandchildren Craig Russell (Trudy), Stephen Russell (Sarah), Gillian Suley (Andy), Terry Suley, Christopher Suley & Ryan Fowler. Seven great-grandchildren – Alex, Noelle. Emma, Leah, Ethan, Blake & Carly; also her brothers Kevin Smith(Bernice), Albert Smith( Doreen); and Robert Smith (Joan) and one sister-in-law Margaret (Peggy) Smith, and sister-in-law, Shirley Hollett. plus large circle of nieces, nephews, her church family and many friends.
Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home, 33A Cabot Ave. Whitbourne, Visitation on Friday 7-9pm. Saturday 2-4pm & 7-9pm. A celebration of her life will be held at Trinity United Church Sunday at 2pm, with internment to follow in the Whitbourne United Church Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to her beloved church—Trinity United or to the Whitbourne Cemetery Fund. No Flowers by request.

Judy Blundon

Words cannot express our heartbreak as we announce on August 14, 2018, (our mother , grandmother, sister, aunt ,and friend )Judy Blundon , nee Slade , who was carried by the angels into heaven to be with our dad William Blundon who passed away May 2017. Also awaiting for  her are her two beautiful grandchildren Ashleigh and Brooke , parents Winnie and George Slade , in laws urias and Anne Blundon, sisters and brothers Donna , Will, Fred , Margaret and Ina.

Mom was surrounded by love as she passed at the Leonard A miller centre with Cynthia (Darryl ) , granddaughter and most treasured gift Brianna,David ( Kurt ) . Also left to mourn are her “boys” Greg and Jeff White. She will be deeply missed by her brothers Dennis ( Brenda) and Kevin (Dianne ), her nieces , nephews and many close friends . Thank you the palliative care unit at the Miller centre, home care workers, and oncology team and all those who have supported mom in the last few years.
Funeral arrangements are with Holloway’s funeral home in Whitbourne . Visitations will occur on August 16 -17 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 at St. John the Baptist church in Chapel arm. Burial will take place at 2:00pm on Saturday August 18, 2018.  Internment to follow at St. John the Baptist cemetery on Long harbour road.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Daffodil Place cancer centre.

 

Stephen Leonard Hillier

Passed peacefully away on Monday August 13, 2018 at Carbonear General Hospital, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving wife, children and families. Stephen Leonard Hillier age 37 years. Predeceased by his loving father Harvey Hillier, Grandparents Leah and Raymond Hillier, Emerson Mercer. Leaving to mourn with loving and cherished memories, wife Colleen, son Owen, daughter Hannah, Mother Maxine, sister Jennifer (Shawn) Drover, nieces Shelby and Shawna nephews Braden and Blake, Mother and Father-in-law Tom and Judy Harnum, brother-in-law Cory (Robyn) Harnum and a large number of aunts, uncles, family and friends.  Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne Wednesday August 15th 1pm to 9pm.  Thursday August 16th at Sacred Heart Parish Church Heart’s Desire 10am-12pm, 2pm-4pm,and 7pm-9pm. Funeral mass will take place  on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 12:00 am. No flowers by request of the family. Donations may be made to the Stephen Hillier Memorial Fund.
