Frederick Stanley Joseph White

January 18, 1938 – November 30, 2022

With sad hearts the White family announces the passing of their father, Fred White of Norman’s Cove.

Dad passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday morning, November 30th at the age of 84 years. He leaves behind his children: Evelyn, Sandy, Russell (Karen), Jenine (Rick), and Jennifer (Aaron), and six Grandchildren: Lisa, Kayleigh, Keegan, Gracie, Nora, and Raela. Also left to mourn is sister-in-law Jean, his nieces and nephews, and a large number of extended family and friends who he treasured.

Dad is now at peace and reunited with his wife, our loving mother, Phyllis. He is also predeceased by his parents Fred and Rhoda Smith, and Fred and Gertrude White, his sisters Leah and Olive, brother John, brothers-in-law Ambrose and Ray, nephew Harvey, as well as parents-in-law Tom and Jessie Reid.

Dad cherished his family, embracing every moment with us. He especially loved his role as Poppy. Dad worked hard his whole life to provide for us and spoke often of the people he met in Millertown, Long Harbour, and Bull Arm.  He was an active member of our community, and our Church. His love for life, strong faith, and passion to help others has made him a friend to many and loved by all.

A sincere thank you to the staff of both Placentia Health Center and Carbonear General Hospital for caring for dad during his short stay. Special thank you to Rev. Linda, for being here. We’d also like to thank everyone for reaching out to us, extending their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, especially dads’ neighbors and close friends, who are family to us.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honour of our dad, to the Good Shepherd Anglican Church in Norman’s Cove.

Visitors are welcome Friday, December 2nd from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Holloways Funeral Home in Whitbourne.

On Saturday, December 3rd, visitation will be from 2:00 – 9:00 pm at The Good Shepherd Anglican Church in Norman’s Cove.

Funeral service will be held at The Good Shepherd Anglican Church, Sunday December 4th at 2:00pm – Interment to follow.

September 7, 1933-November 10, 2022

Following a brief illness, Mom passed peacefully away at Placentia Health Center, in the presence of her loving and devoted family.
Mom is predeceased by our father, Felix (Ray), her sons Raphael (Bud) and Patrick, her granddaughter, Kathleen, and her parents, Sarah and Andrew. She is also predeceased by her siblings Thomas (Susan), Andrew (Janet), and baby sister, Christina.

She has left to mourn her children Maureen (Gordon), Carolyn (Ian), William (Theresa), Janet (Barry), Theresa (Tony), Michael, Loretta (Ford), Howard (Michelle), Bernadine (John), 29 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her siblings, William (Kay-deceased), Bride (Tom-deceased), Lena (Michael-deceased), Eileen (James), Patrick (Anne), Leonard, Sadie (Derek), Christine (Wayne), and Vera (Gary), and special Aunt Marcella Newhook. Mom will be greatly missed by her extended family and friends, especially the residents and staff of the Beachside Manor, Placentia, where she resided for the last 4 years.

She will be resting at Sacred Heart Church, Chapel Arm. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12th and Sunday November 13th from 1:00 -4:00 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Monday November 14th at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Long Harbour Road. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Holloway’s Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations are graciously accepted to the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Iona Crann

With much love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our sweet mother and grandmother, Iona Crann, on November 04, 2022, at 70 years of age.

 

Iona was predeceased by her loving husband Reuben; parents Garland and Lucy Chaulk; brothers Beaton, Douglas and sister Effie, brothers-in-law Ewert, Clyde and Roy; sisters-in-law Dorene and Marie

 

Leaving to mourn with cherished memories are her children Bill (Tracy) and Alma (John), and her grandchildren Alexandria, Nicholas and Skylar; stepdaughters Marilyn (Brian), Linda (Ed), Christine (Art), Jackie (Gerald); Special friend Ted Cumby; brothers Pearcie (Vera) and Ted (Ada); Sisters Ivy, Rose (Melvin), Levetia, Annie (Ronald), Olga (Pat), Shirley (Malcolm), sisters-in-law Edna and Bonnie (Dave); brothers-in-law Tom (Marjorie) and Frank, special nieces Lisa and Liza; special nephews Aaron, Zach and Shawn;  as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

 

The family would like to send their thanks and gratitude for the kind and compassionate care provided by All Care Home Support especially Nancy and Kathleen who were more than just care workers to her. Special thanks to the nurses in CCU Sherry, Stephanie and Colin and Doctors; Dr. Hall, Dr. Gregory, and Dr. Tingley and the nurses in Carbonear hospital dialysis unit, who have taken such good care of her over the past 4 and a half years.

 

As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Iona Crann Memorial Fund.

 

Cremation has taken place.

 

Visitation for family and friends will take place Saturday, November 19th from 11:00 to 1:00 at the Salvation Army Citadel in Green’s Harbour.  A service to celebrate Iona’s life will begin at 2:00 pm. Inurnment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Green’s Harbour.

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Francis P. Keating on November 1st, 2022. He passed away suddenly at the age of 70 years on Tuesday November 1, 2022, Predeceased by his parents Francis Sr. and Anastasia Keating, Sister in-law Dale Keating

It is with heavy hearts and immense sadness that the family of the late Brent Warren announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022 at the age of 58.

Predeceased by his mother Alma Warren. Leaving to mourn are his father Louis, children Natasha (Brandon) and Stephanie (Shannon), sister Anita (Levi), nephew Tyson (Victoria), grandchildren Danielle and Noah, and a large circle of family and friends.

Elizabeth (Betty) Cardwell

Our Family is heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear Mother. Elizabeth (Betty) Sarah Faith Cardwell of Whitbourne passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital, Oct 29th, 2022 surrounded by her loving Family. She was in her 80th year.

 

Predeceased by her parents Walter and Gladys Jones, her loving husband of 39 years Ernest John Cardwell, her partner for 18 years Ronald Cardwell, son-in-law Rob, brothers-in-law Stan Cardwell, Robert Cardwell, sisters-in-law Viola Sooley, Marjorie Wooster, Ruth Lundrigan, and great grandchildren Arianne and Alexandre Downing

 

Leaving to mourn with loving memories her three daughters, Lori Clarke, Beverly Gosse (Calvin), Arlene Cardwell-Jean (Marc), Son Ernie (Joanne). Also her sisters Daphne March (Hubert), June Dyke (Bert), brothers Arthur Jones (Debbie), and Junior Jones (Karen). Also leaving to mourn her sister-in-law Joyce Mercer (Dave), Joyce was more a sister to Betty and a special friend for many years, and sister-in-law Laura Cardwell. 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and an extremely large circle for extended Family and friends.

 

Mom was as gentle as a butterfly and absolutely loved the company of Family and friends. Always ready with that infectious smile or a funny story. She was passionate about her church, the choir, her lodge, the ACW The LOBA and approached each with a truly spiritual enthusiasm. Mom will also be remembered as fantastic with a pair of knitting needles, knitting, a lifelong passion. A skill acquired at a tender age she constantly heard “For the love of God can you put down the needles” and “Yes Bet I know, just one more row”. Over the years she created a treasure trove of socks, mitts, thumb-gluttons for dad, christening gowns, blankets, baby clothes and cherished heirlooms that will last for centuries. Most importantly she left her love and memories.

Fred White

“When my life has ended & my time has run out, my friends & my loved ones I’ll leave, there’s no doubt, but one things for certain, when it comes my time, I’ll leave this world with a satisfied mind”
On October 28th, we lost a great man, Frederick Gordon White, age 74 years.
Fred is leaving behind his best friend of 55 years Elsie, his Daughter Trudy and partner Harold, Son Rick and wife Tracy, Daughter Paula & husband Dion, Granddaughter Bobbilee & husband Glenn, Grandson Wendell and wife Mel, Grandson Taylor and partner Kelsey, Granddaughter Paige & partner Josh  and Grandson Randi and partner Melanie. He will be thoroughly missed by his pride and joys Tenley, Ella, Freddie, Cove, Cade, Damien and his trusty 4 legged companion Drew.
Fred is also leaving behind his confidant & Road trip buddy Uncle D (Lorraine), sisters Nancy (Paul), Lorraine (Johnny), Trudy (Harv), Cathy (Gordie), Bonnie (Bill), Rose (Lloyd) & Bill.
Sisters & Brothers in law Fronie (Ralph), Ennett (Bill), Faye (Gary), Boyd (Maxine), Herman (Darlene), Curtis (Ethel), Eddie (Carolyn) Sydney (Glenda), Stan (Lucy), Patsy, Rosie, Hursie & Donald.
Fred also left behind his good buddy Monster, and a large number of nieces and nephews, who has shared many memories of Uncle Fred/Chummy, since learning of his passing.
The berries don’t stand a chance with you and Vern together again.
“Now im going back on the same train that brought me here before, while my baby walks the streets of Baltimore”
To respect Fred’s wishes, A private ceremony will be held by the family.

Passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, Gordon Jones of Whitbourne, aged 61 years.
Predeceased by parents, Ada and Olaf Jones, sister Tina.
Leaving to mourn, 7 brothers, Wayne (Maureen), Bob (Lorraine), Olaf (Heather), Derrick (Norma), Calvin (Kim), Mark (Janis) and John.
Special friends Nancy Dawe, Scott Hutchings and a large number of other family and friends.

Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home October  on Saturday 29, 2022 from 9:00 am -11:00 am. Funeral service will take place at  the Funeral Home at 11:00 am.

Alice May Jones (Morgan)

Alice May Jones(Morgan) 1939- 2022 Passed from earthly life into eternal life on October 24,  2022

Predeceased by her Husband Wilfred, Son Wayne, Grandson Cade, Parent’s William and Ada Morgan, Siblings- Jim, Dave, Judy.

She passed peacefully at home safe in the arm of Jesus, Surrounded by her loving family, who will always carry her in their hearts. Daughter- Linda(Neal),  Son- Raymond(Betty),  Daughter- Brenda(Brian),  Son- Billy(Pattie),  Son- Danny(Tina),  Son- Terry(Goldie),  Son- Andy(Janice),  Daughter- Jeannette,  Daughter- Denise(Darren), Daughter- Kim(Les), Son- Rodney(Lori Ann) 26 Grandchildren, 30 great Grandchildren, 2 great great Grandchildren, Siblings- Bill, Emmy , Annie Linda and large circle of Family and friends❤️

Passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday October 14, 2022 with his family by his side Alexander Brace of Long Cove, aged 75 years.

 

Predeceased by his parents, Sandy & Sarah Brace, Baby Girl Brace, mother & father-in-law Reuben & Jane Soper, Sisters Stella (Roland) Newhook, Mary (Lionel) Norris, Brother Edward (Amy) Smith & Brother-in-law’s Leonard Temple, Lawrence Bursey & Sister-in-law Mary Brace.

Leaving to mourn his devoted wife of 56 years Meleta. Daughters Michelle (Chris) Upshall, Renee (Shannon) Bruce, Granddaughter Chelsea (Corey) Hudson, Great-Grandson Dakota Hudson & his fury grandson Jaxson.

Alex loved hunting, fishing, camping and cutting wood. But most importantly was his family that he adored and they him. Alex was a friend to anyone who needed a helping hand. Alex was a 30 plus year employee of Newfoundland Hydro, beginning at the age of 20 as a line worker and retiring in 2001 as Transmission Line Supervisor.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kristy Thompkins and the nurses of 4 North A, Health Sciences Centre.
