Graham Maxwell Gosse
July 2, 1945 – January 17, 2025
It is with deep sadness that the family of Graham Maxwell Gosse of Whitbourne announce the peaceful
passing and loss of their beloved father on January 17, 2025 at the age of 79, at Carbonear General
Hospital after a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Markland, Graham was the son of Harold Gosse of
Whitbourne and Melina (née March) Gosse of Greens Harbour.
Predeceased by Emily his wife of 53 years, Graham leaves to mourn his sisters Hazel Hobbs of Mount
Pearl, Vida Kelland of Whitbourne, Alma (Richard) Kelly of Bay Roberts; brothers Lloyd (Peggy) Gosse of
Bible Hill, NS, and Bill (Sylvia) Gosse of Chamberlains; brother-in-law William Gilbert of Blaketown;
sister-in-law Pagie Hickman of Tecopa, California; and his children, Graham Jr. (Lora) Gosse of Wilmot,
NS, Craig (Tammy) Gosse of Blackfoot, AB, and Lisa (Jay) Penney of Mount Pearl. He is also mourned
by his grandchildren Daniel (Caelum), Katelyn (Connor), Taylor (Jill), Nic (Hanna), Brianna, Brandon,
Myles, and Lillian, and great-grandchildren Maliyah, Xavier, Kaynen, Nora, and Willa, along with
numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Graham had a distinguished career with the provincial government, serving for over thirty years. He was
also a dedicated member of the Whitbourne Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Passionate about
the outdoors, Graham enjoyed going out the track trouting and berry picking with Emily. A true “jack of all
trades,” he was known for taking the lead on household projects and DIY tasks. An avid carpenter,
Graham spent countless hours in his workshop, creating pieces for his home, family, and friends. He was
also a tireless worker and, alongside Emily, spent many hours cutting and gathering firewood, often using
horse, trike, or quad to haul it home.
Graham’s children would like to thank all family and friends that came out to support us in these past
difficult months. We can’t begin to thank you enough for the wonderful care and compassion he was
provided. A special thanks to Dr. Bruce Doulton and his palliative care team, St. John’s, Dr. Dawn Howse,
Cancer Center, Carbonear General Hospital, Dr Michael Hogan, Oncology Surgeon and team, Dr. Jehan
Siddiqui, Oncology Cancer Center, St. John’s, Dr. Daniel Carrie, Internal Medicine, Carbonear, the
Carbonear Nursing staff 6th floor, the community health nurses, Robyn/Taylor and staff in Whitbourne and
Dr. WM H. Newhook Community Health Center staff. We would also like to give a special thanks to Dad’s
homecare providers: Esther Vincent, Lori Hutchings, Terri-Lynn Davis, and Carolyn Smith, and all others
that assisted daughter Lisa with dad’s care.
Graham’s family and friends will miss him deeply. He touched so many people’s lives. He will always be
in our hearts. His life inspired us all.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Holloway’s Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. A small
family gathering and internment will be held at the Whitbourne United Church Cemetery this coming
summer.

Donald George Hancock

It is with heavy hearts that we  announce the passing of Donald George Hancock age 60, He passed peacefully away on November 14th,2023, at Carbonear General Hospital. Born September 23rd,1963 in Toronto, Donald was a man of great kindness, love and unwavering dedication.
Donnie has now joined his parent Claude and Shelia Hancock , brother Raymond Hancock and Brother- in- law Wayne Cates, Also a dear uncle Delbert Madeley. Parents-in-law Francis and Ellen Pinsent.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years Ellen Susan Hancock, and their children, Tiley, Victoria (Barry), Jasmine (Jack) and Alex. Donnie was also a cherished poppa  to Gabriel and Theo Hancock. He leaves behind his sister, Deborah Cates and her children Beau (Melissa ), Colleen, sister in law Cheryl and her children Kayla (Anthony), Meagen, and Aunt Margret Madeley.
Donnie Will be fondly remembered for his strong family bonds and special connections he shared with his extended family. He touched the lives of his Brothers-in-laws Eugene (Barbra), Joe(Dawn),Ronald (Mary-Ann), Gary(Shelia) and Philip. Sister-in-laws Theresa (Garfield),Florentine (Dennis), Diane (Wayne). He was a loving uncle to his 25 Nieces & Nephews and adored his 15 Great Nieces & Nephews. Aunts and uncles who embraced him as their own Ann(Tom),Evelyn(Winston), Francis, Micheal (Gloria), Tom and Edward (Lisa). Donnie also held dear his close friends, including Shelly Foster, John(Karen) Comerford, Harold ( Michelle) Silveria, Paul (Lisa) Murphy, Christine (Neal) Gillespie, Pauline (Boyd) Forward,  Violet (Marvin) and Randolph King. His work family was a source of entertainment and Camaraderie throughout his life.
Donnie will forever be remembered for his loving nature, his unwavering dedication to his family and the joy he brought to those around him. May his soul rest in eternal peace and may his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who Knew him.
Cremation has taken place, with plans for burial to be held at a later date. The compassionated team at Holloway’s Funeral Home in Whitbourne has been entrusted with the arrangements, ensuring that Donnie’s final journey is conducted with utmost care and respect.

Eleanor Piercey

Eleanor Piercey
March 22, 1967 – June 17, 2022

Eleanor passed away peacefully at the age of 55 years at Northern Lights Regional Hospital in Fort McMurray, Alberta in the presence of her good friend, Bobbi Morgan and family.
Predeceased by parents, Margaret and Gordon Piercey; sister, Ivy Piercey Sorenson; and brother, Lindsay Piercey.
Leaving to mourn her fur baby, Sasha (the pride and joy of her life); sisters, Frances (Peter, deceased); Clara (Dave) Moores; Kathleen (Pete) Hopkins; Irene (Shawn) Piercey; brothers, Clifford (Bonnie) Piercey; and Leo (Rosie) Piercey. Also, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends here in NL and Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Thank you to the Compton family of Fort McMurray for being her special neighbors and friends for the last 22 years.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation and service of remembrance to take place at Holloways Funeral Home, Whitbourne, on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM with inurnment to follow at Bethel United Cemetery, Norman’s Cove.
