His time as a volunteer Firemen in Whitbourne gave him a feeling of accomplishment and comradery, giving him a chance to give back to a community he adored. Having retired from the sea at age 51, he began a career as a DSW with Caregivers Inc, where co-workers became friends, and some co-workers became family. Wayne was loyal, loving, and kind, a pillar of strength and comfort to friends and family alike. A celebration of his life will be held at the Whitbourne Firehall on 14 September, from 2 – 4. His ashes will be spread at a later date in a private event.
