Arthur J. Brothers November 13, 1921 – June 27, 2018
Arthur Brothers passed peacefully away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the Caribou Veterans Memorial Pavilion, St. John’s at the age of 96. He is predeceased by his wife Lucy of 52 years, his parents Dora and Clifford, five brothers: Gordon (Grey Islands), Ford (Fermeuse), Lar (Long Harbour), Reg (Charlottetown)and Bill (Corner Brook); two sisters: Patricia Infante (Ontario) and Marie Farrison (Ohio), also sister in laws Frances and Mary and brother in laws Al and Mario (Ontario), Max and Jack (St. John’s). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his 6 children: Jerry (Beulah), Kay (Anthony Keating), Monnie, Ann (Alton), Gerard (Pats) and Clifford (Carolann); five sisters: Gladys Usry, USA, Florence (Al Hopper) Ontario, Ann (Max Butler), Shir (Gary Hitchcock), Ontario, Beth (Jack Keating) and one brother Gord (Cecilia), Long Harbour and sister in law Mabel, Prince Edward Island. Also leaving to mourn are his 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, special neighbours Rita and Jerome Keating (Ontario) and a large circle of friends, as well as his dog Fido who was his faithful companion for a number of years. We are very grateful to the staff at the Veterans Memorial Pavilion for the excellent care he received for the past 22 months.
Arthur truly loved playing cards, especially crib. He worked hard all his life and enjoyed family gatherings, parties and dancing. He was a great carpenter and one of his favourite hobbies was making all sorts of crafts from coffee and end tables, crib boards, shelves, bookcases and windjacks.

Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loved ones, Charlotte “Jane” Barrett of Whitbourne, aged 90 years old.
Predeceased by her husband John “Jack” Barrett, daughters Daffodil and Holly, great grandson Mitchell Russell, parents John and Lily Clarke, sisters Maud Peddle, Mary Mercer and brother Joe Clarke.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories and to be forever remembered by her 9 children: Provie (Sonny), Lily (Mark), Sylvia (Joe), Chris (Fred), John (Donna), Larry, Barb (Edward), Rick (Julia) and Paul (Barb). Also loved and remembered by 28 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Born on October 25, 1928, he was the oldest of twelve children of John and Beatrice Gosse.
Predeceased by his loving wife Margaret (Stevenson) in 1968; parents John & Beatrice Gosse; brothers Frank, Edward, John & Sidney; sisters Bertie (Eddie), Elsie (Ted) & Thelma; parents-in-law George & Susie Stevenson; brothers in law Ronald Stevenson & George Robbins.
Chesley enjoyed a lifetime of work starting with the Newfoundland Railway in his early years and later as a Provincial Government employee in the Public Works Department as well as in the sawmill industry. In his “leisure” time, he enjoyed building lawn furniture & garbage boxes, hunting, trouting and in later years a great game of poker, especially with his grandchildren.

NOLAN, Anthony, It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony Nolan of Mount Arlington Heights/Long Harbour in his 98th year. Anthony was born on January 18, 1920 and passed on April 19, 2018 at the Placentia Health Centre, surrounded by his loving family by his side.
He is predeceased by his parents, James and Maria Nolan, In-laws Maurice and Bridget Keating and his best friend and companion of 53 years Eileen Keating. Also predeceased by his siblings and In-laws John and Bertha Nolan, Mary Jane and Dennis Keating, Jim Nolan, Elizabeth and Patrick Hickey, Mike and Anna Nolan, Henry Murphy, Wilfred Sanford, Cecil Greene and Patrick Keating, .brother-in-law Jack Keating Nieces and nephews, Kevin Nolan, Dennis Keating and Kelly Greene, nephew Kenneth Murphy.
Left with fond and loving memories are his sisters Doarann Murphy and Margaret Sanford and sisters-in-law Laura Nolan, Mary Greene and Jenny and Beth Keating. He also leaves many special nieces and nephews, too many to mention who will miss him dearly. He also leaves a community of lifelong friends. Anthony embraced his 98 years with loyality and always a possitive attitude. He always had a pleasant face with a smile. He was a jovial soul who loved lots of fun and laughs. He worked many years with CN Marine and shared many fond momories. His family would like to extend gratitude to staff at Beachside Manor, where he received quality care for the past two years. We also acknowlege his roommate Raymond Traverse. As well, we thank doctors and staff at Placentia Health Centre for their care over the years.
