DOBBIN, Theresa Mary (nee Penney). Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family, our darling mother Theresa Mary Dobbin in her 87th year of Markland, NL. 
Predeceased by her husband Leo, sons; Thomas, Dennis, Vincent and daughter Gertrude. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories  children, John (Linda), Reg (Christine), Leo (Elizabeth), Patricia (Len), Alice (Bob), Linda (Max), Brenda (Larry), Loretta, Carl (Patsy), Glen (Rick),
Beverly (Terry), Shawn (Melva), Brian (Dawn), Wayne (Shirley), Sisters; Hannah & Loretta. Also leaving to mourn many grandchildren, great grandchildren & great
great grandchildren and a large circle of extended family and friends.

Gordon George Murphy

Gordon Murphy, aged 68, of Mt. Arlington Heights-Long Harbour, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2018 at St. John’s Health Sciences Center surrounded by his family.

Gordon started fishing with his father at a young age where he developed mechanical skills. Later his skills in the mechanical field would be respected coast to coast as he mentored many including two of his boys in the trade. Gordon was not only inter-provincially licensed red seal heavy equipment and automotive mechanic but multi skilled handy man who was no stranger to helping friends and neighbors in need. He raised four boys who respected and loved him unconditionally. Gordon will be sadly missed by his large family, many co-workers and friends across Canada.

Pre-deceased by parents George and Elizabeth and brothers Michael, John Pat, Eric, and Tony. Left to mourn his wife of 45 years Sheila (Browne), their four sons Bradley (Sheryl), Brett (Lori ), Brock (Claudette) and Blake: grandchildren: Jordan, Jacobb, Madison, Julia, Drayton, Kenzie; siblings Arnold (Anne), Andy (Margie), Gerry(Lorraine), Roy (Jeanie), Ted (Patrina), Raymond, Alex (Tammy), Mary (Tom), Betty Anne (Mark), Georgina, Lori. He also leaves to mourn Sheila’s siblings Derm (Mary), Brendan (Laura),Pat (Marjorie), Kevin (Bernie) , Jim (Sheila), Bill (Marje), Howard (Pam), Betty (Francis), Joan (Melvin).

Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home Thursday, April 12th 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Friday, April 13th 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Funeral services at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church Long Harbour Friday April 13th at 2:00 pm.

Arlene Jean Thorne (Mowatt)

Passed peacefully away on March 29th 2018 at Placentia Hospital, Arlene Jean Thorne ( Mowatt) age 81 years of Thornlea. Predeceased by parents James and Edna Mowatt. Brothers Billy and Edward. Sister Lena Donahue. Son James Thorne. Daughter in law Deborah Thorne.

 

Leaving to mourn husband of 60 years Fred Thorne Sr. Son Fred Thorne Jr (Eliz). Granddaughters Justine, Holly and Abby. Grandson Travis. Sister Isabella King(Ont). Brother in law Tom Donahue (Ont). Nephews Doug King (Geraldine). Tommi  Donahoe  (Nanci). Nieces Barb(Frank Bigl) (Alb) and family. Lily Thorne (Thornlea) and family. Christine Donahoe (Ont). Great nieces Katlyn and Megan King (Ont). Also many other relatives and friends.

 

Special thanks to the nurses at Placentia Hospital for the care they provided also the staff at BeachSide Manor Placentia. Cremation has taken place . Visitation Monday 1 pm-4 pm. Funeral service Tuesday April  3rd at 11:30 am at Holloway’s Funeral Home Whitbourne. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to a charity of ones choice. Lovingly remembered, forever missed.

Elizabeth (Betty) Piercey (nee Phillips)

Passed away peacefully at the St. John’s Health Science Centre on March 23rd, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Elizabeth from Whitbourne, was in her 58th year. predeceased by her father George. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Leaving to cherish her memory are her mother Sylvia and step father George, siblings Frances (Harold), George (Angela), Ron (Mary), Judy (Damian), Edgar, Ada (Nick); children Angelena (Robert), Bradley (Christine); grandchildren Christine, Kimberly, Cassie-Jada, Anita and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Anastasia Keating, in her 101st year, of Mt. Arlington Heights, Placentia Bay.  Predeceased  by her husband Francis, parents Peter and Jane Kelly, daughter-in-law Dale, brothers and sisters: Peter (Louise), Maurice, Patrick (Alice), Robert, Madeline (Jack Walsh), Ethel (Phonse Duke), Jane (Bill Murray), Mary (Jimmy Gosse), Mike (Anna) Murray and brother-in-law Steve Hurley. NEWHOOK, Matilda B., Passed peacefully away at the Shag Rock Manor on February 24, 2018 Matilda B. Newhook of Long Cove age 97 years.

fond and loving memories to celebrate her life with thanksgiving; son Ernest (Ernie) Newhook ( friend Josie), daughter Winnie (Bill) Hart, sister Gladys Cooper, sisters-in-law, Bessie Newhook, Rosalyn (Morgan) Upshall, special nephew Harry ( Christina) Hunt and his family, Grandchildren; David, Charllne, Billy Jr. 6 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Friends and staff at Shag Rock Manor, Whiteway where she resided since 2010.

Was a neurosurgeon, and your beloved GP for 45 years in Whitbourne, Newfoundland. Dr Ragnauth passed peacefully on Feb 15th 2018 at St. John’s Health Science Center at the age of 72.

There will be visitation between 10 am – 5pm on Sunday February 18th, 2018 at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne, 33A Cabot Avenue, Whitbourne. N.L. A tribute to Dr. Ragnauth’s life will be held at Holloway’s Funeral Home at 1:15 pm

Clarence Edwin Mercer

MERCER, Clarence Edwin, Passed away suddenly at the Health Science Center, St. John’s, on Tuesday, February 6th. 2018 in his 71st year, Clarence Edwin Mercer,
Whitbourne. Predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Minnie Mercer, brother Melvin and his wife Fiona. Leaving to mourn with precious memories his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Shelagh (nee O’ Reilly); children, Kristi (Darren) Sooley, Shawn Mercer (Misha), Heather Mercer (Barney); brother, Wayne (Brenda); precious grandchildren, Nathan, Ella, Patrick, Heidi, Kenneth, Samuel, Ally and Taylor. As well as a large number of relatives and friends, and his devoted feline friend, Bully-Boy. Visitation will be held at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne, on Thursday, February 8th, 2018 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm and Friday, February 9th, between 11:00 am -4:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10th, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Trinity United Church, Blaketown. PIKE, Christopher Michael, Feb 9, 1938 – Feb 1, 2018. Passed peacefully away on February 1, 2018 Christopher Pike of Bellevue.

Predeceased by mother Mary Williams Pike, father, Felix, sister Cecilia, brother’s Jack, William and Gerard.

Left to mourn four sons; Terry (wife Milessa), Barry (wife Lynn), Angelo ( wife Donna), Darryl (Michelle). Four grandchildren; Chauntal, Westney (Krista Pike), Megan, Koady. 1 great grandchild K. C.
