HILLIER, Leonard Harvey, Passed peacefully away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Miller Center, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving wife and children & family, Leonard Harvey Hillier age 63 years.

Predeceased by his loving parents Raymond and Leah Hillier, father -in-law, Emerson Mercer, grandparents  Fredrick and Rhoda Smith,  Richard & Sarah Hillier,brother Reginald Stanley Hillier, brother-in-law, George Mercer also nephew and great nephew.

Leaving to mourn with loving and cherished memories of 41 years wife Maxine, daughter Jennifer (Shawn) Drover, son Stephen (Colleen) Hillier, 4 precious grandchildren; Owen, Braden, Hannah and Shawna, mother-in-law, Ruby Mercer.

Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne. Visitation Wednesday 4:00 – 9:30 pm. Thursday 10:00 am – 9:30 pm. Friday 10:00 am – 12:00 noon.

Funeral service will be held at the Anglican Church, Blaketown on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Inurnment at a later date.

Kellie Janiel Reid

REID, Kellie Janiel….. April 2, 1975 -January 11, 2018. It is with heavy hearts, we announce that Kellie Janiel Reid has passed peacefully away, in the arms of her mother, father at her side, surrounded by so much love, winning her fight miraculously after 7 1/2 years with cancer.

Predeceased by grandparents Cleophas and Josephine Reid. Raymond and Mary Warren, uncle Timothy Reid and Donald Pretty.

Leaving to mourn is her most prized treasure daughter Mari Addison who lights up any room. Her partner Eric, mom and dad Janice & Jerry; brothers, Garett, Justin (Chandra) niece Emma, sister Kyla (Craig) nephew Gavin. sister-in-law, Valerie and family, brother-in-law Peter (Robyn), Korben & Abigail. Also many aunts, uncles and cousins. Kellie was blessed to have had many friends in B.C. and Newfoundland. Resting at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Chapel Arm. Visitation on Tuesday 10:00 am – 9:00 pm. Wednesday 10:00 am
to 12:00 pm.

Lewis Wilbourne Cooper

Lewis Wilbourne Cooper passed peacefully away, Wednesday Dec 27th, at the Miller Center, with his daughter Jessica by his side. He leaves to mourn his daughters Jessica Cooper and Holly McConville, grandchildren Jonah and Noelle McConville, sisters Alma Snow, Nancy Cooper (Clayton), Cynthia Temple (Gary), Wavey Smith, Irene Mercer (Selby), Helen Cramm (Eric), and Susan Newhook, brothers Eric Cooper (Shirley), and Aubrey Cooper, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Pre-deceased by his son Lewis Cooper Jr., sister Olive, brother Lawrence, and mother and father, William and Mary Cooper. Mildred Jane Newhook

NEWHOOK, Mildred Jane  (nee Parrott), September 21, 1930 – November 28, 2017, passed away peacefully at the Health Science Centre surrounded by her family.   She is predeceased by:  Parents Joshua & Agnes Parrott, Granddaughters Kim, and Mary.  

 

She leaves with loving memories, Husband:  Joseph and Children: Geraldine (Peter), Sandra (Glenn), Velma (John), Wilfred (Phoebe), Lorne, Kevin, Dennis (Bev), 17 Grandchildren and 25 Great grandchildren.  As well as, a large circle of family and friends.

 

Resting at The Church of The Good Shepherd, Norman’s Cove. Visitation will take place  2 – 4, and 7 – 9 pm on November 30, 2017. The funeral will be held at Good Shepherd Anglican Church on Friday, December 01, 2017 at 2 pm.

DROVER, Greta, It’s with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Greta Drover of Blaketown aged 77 years.

Predeceased by parents William and Elizabeth Mercer, parents-in-law John and Mary Drover. Leaving to mourn her loving husband of 61 years, Ronald Drover. Two daughters: Ada (Bill), Cavelle (Clarence), four sons; Charlie (Helen), Eric (Muriel), Bruce (Donna), Rudy (Terri-Lynn), Sister; Ada Russell (Ontario), 2 brothers, Don (Dawn) Mercer ( New Brunswick ), Gerald Mercer (Blaketown). Fourteen grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, and a large circle of family and friends.

Doreen Branton

BRANTON, Doreen, It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful Mom, Doreen Branton, at the young age of 80 years. Mom passed peacefully in her home in Thornlea, which is where she wanted to be.

Leaving to cherish her memory are her 6 children, Larry (Diane), Stephenville, Cathy, Fairhaven, Carol (Clayton), St Shotts, Richard (Barb), Thornlea, Paula (Nick), Cambridge, ON, Roger (Taunya), Bradford, ON. Also 13 Grandchildren,  7 Great Grandchildren, 5 sisters, 4 brothers and a large number of friends. Predeceased by her loving husband, Clayton Branton, her Parents James & Sarah Reid, her in-laws, Richard & Eva Branton, brothers Harry Reid, Richard Thorne, Winston Thorne & Charles Thorne.

Mom lived & enjoyed life to the fullest every day. From going out in the boat, to eating out at restaurants (especially Chinese restaurants & Montys’) & she especially enjoyed her days spent with 2 of her sisters, a.k.a. The Golden Girls.  She knit for Nonia in St. Johns for 50 years & her many sweaters, mitts & socks are seen, likely all over the world. Mom was a member of the United Church choir & was also a lifetime member of the UCW & supported & enjoyed the church greatly. She was also an avid ‘Skipbo’ player & loved a game of bingo.

Philip Stephen Smith

Smith, Philip Stephen – Passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, Philip Stephen Smith.

Beloved son of Melvin Smith (Joan Browne) and Trudy Leyte (Edward).

Also mourning his passing, sister Samantha (Michael); special niece Kimberly; step-siblings Dillan, Brandon (Robyn) and Rebecca Murphy; grandparents Laura Smith, Sus and Vincent Norman and a large circle of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dwayne Hoskins

Dwayne Patrick Hoskins (May 12, 1972-October 22, 2017)

Every person we encounter in life touches us in some special way. We feel blessed to have shared in and been touched by the life of Dwayne. At the same time we are deeply saddened by his tragic and sudden passing. Dwayne will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dwayne was predeceased by his beloved mother Annie; grandparents Allan & Elizabeth Temple; Pop William Hoskins; uncle William Temple.

He is survived by his Nan Mrs. Leona Hoskins; father Tom Hoskins; children Tyler and Alyssa Hoskins; 3 loving brothers Jeremy(Crystal), Shawn(Nancy) and Shane(Sarah). Dwayne had many aunts and uncles who cherished him as a loving nephew: Helen Coffin(Leo), Louisa Smith(Jim), Josephine Reid (John); Vince Hoskins(Peggy), Karl Hoskins(Tracey), Leon Hoskins, Shirley Clarke(Frank), Dot Clarke(Roy), Florence Temple, Norma Osbourne(Bill) and Rhoda Temple(Ted). Dwayne also had many nieces and nephews who looked up to him as he always had a big smile and hug for them. He also leaves behind many cousins and a large circle of friends who will miss him dearly.

Dwayne had a kind heart and was fun loving. He was a good conversationalist and enjoyed Newfoundland music, especially ‘jigs’.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bellevue, on Thursday, Oct. 26th from 2-4pm. A wake service will be held on Thursday at 6pm and a funeral mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 27 at 2pm. Inurnment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bellevue.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice.

Beulah Grace Smith-Murphy

MURPHY, Beulah Grace Smith,  Nov. 24, 1950 – Sept. 29, 2017. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beulah G. Murphy on Sept. 29, 2017 at 66 years from Norman’s Cove, She passed away peacefully at the Dr. Wm H. Newhook Community Health Centre at Whitbourne. 
Predeceased by her father Robert J. Smith, and her mother Rebecca S. Thorne-Smith, and her  sister Susie Smith.
Survived by her husband Adrian, two daughters Susan/Scott Smith, Tina/ Cameron Doble and one son Steven / Melissia Murphy. Seven grandchildren; Ashley Power, Stacey Power, Dennis Murphy, Nathan Murphy, Cayden Doble, Jessica Doble and Samantha Murphy. Four brothers Morgan/ Terry Smith, George/ Sandra Smith, Stanley Smith/Sandy Brown and Darren/Marlene Smith. Five sisters Sylvia/Hayward Smith, Lillian /Alfred Thorne, Mavis / Bernard Power, Darlene / William Osachuk and   Nancy / Bill Hurley, plus a number of nephews and nieces and a large circle of family and friends.

A Memorial Service honouring the life of Beulah G. Murphy will take place at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm.
Her fond love for nature which  included berry picking, camping and fishing with her family and friends. She loved knitting, sewing, quilting, interior decorating and
gardening . She also was an inspiration and was loved by all her family and friends. 
She was a remarkable person who will be missed by many.  A sincere thank you to all her family and friends for visiting her at her home and loving her throughout the years.
