Gordon Lee
Gordon Lee (January 2nd 1956-July 14th 2017)
With heavy hearts, the family of Gordon Lee announce his passing at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s, NL on July 14th 2017 at 11:11 am, after a short and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born in 1956 in Round Harbour, NL, Gord was the eldest son of the late George and Blanche (nee Skinner) Lee.
A knowledgeable outdoorsman, Gordspent most of his childhood exploring the surrounding land and sea. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was incredibly passionate about wildlife, the outdoors, the land and its history.
After high school, he attended Lewisporte Trade School and became a journeyman welder. An exceptionally skilled tradesman, his career gave him the opportunity to travel across Canada and abroad. He was a proud, long time member of the Ironworkers Local 764. After retiring earlier this year, he would still often be found working on various welding projects in his shed, which he very much enjoyed.
Shortly after obtaining his welding ticket, he met his wife Ina. They began their life in Bay d’Espoir and later relocated to Blaketown, where they raised their family and resided until his passing. He loved his property and enjoyed many hours spent out meticulously landscaping his garden to perfection.
An extraordinarily clever and witty man, he will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 41 years, Ina. Their 3 children: Stephanie (Stephen), Tara (Daniel), Chris (Angie) and grandchildren Mackenzie, Yassee, Alexe and Mia, along with his 8 siblings: Gerald (Colleen), Herb (Ruby), Cyril (Thelma), Brenda, Gertie (Glenn), Vernon (Patsy), Jeannette (John), Kevin (Angela), brother and sister in law: Gene (Sarah) and Elaine, special friends Hayward and Carmel Russell, as well as an extended number of family and friends, will also be left to mourn.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Blanche Lee; his father and mother in law Weldon and Pearl Brown; brothers in law: Levi, Harry and Sam, as well as one daughter, Andrea.
Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home in Whitbourne, NL. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 16th from 7-9 pm, Monday, July 17th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Honoring Gord’s humorous words before his surgery, “no flowers by request”. Donations can be made in his memory to his family in lieu. The funeral service will be held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Blaketown Tuesday, July 18th at 2 pm.
