William Herbert Blundon

BLUNDON, William Herbert. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the sudden passing of William Herbert Blundon of Chapel Arm, age 76 years old.
Predeceased by parents Urias and Annie Blundon from Bay de Verde, in-laws George and Minnie Slade from Western Bay, sisters Margaret Hopkins and Ina Snelgrove, brothers -in law Fred and Will Slade, grandchildren Ashleigh and Brooke Fillier. 
Surrounded by his loving family at St. Clare’s Hospital who held his hand until the end. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Judy Blundon of 46 years, daughter Cynthia ( Darryl ), son David ( Kurt ), his most precious grand-daughter Brianna and his “grandsons” Gregory and Jeffrey White. Also left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his sister Janet ( Ian ), in-laws  Dennis (Brenda) Slade, Kevin (Diane) Slade, nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends.
Resting at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Chapel Arm. Visitation Wednesday, and  Thursday  from  2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm. Funeral service well be held on Friday, May 12 at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow  at the Anglican Cemetery Long Harbour Road. No flowers by request of the family donations may be made to the Children’s Wish  Foundation or the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Born September 30, 1932, passed away peacefully at the Carbonear General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 5, 2017.

Predeceased by Sister’s; Sylvia Butler, Dorothy Luffman, brother; Harvey Sheppard.

Leaving to mourn with wonderful memories her husband Sidney. Children; Almeada Baldwin, Hazel Lake, Gail Burington (Don), Sharon Chick-Deveau (Cliff), Glenn Cox (Kim). 9 Grand Children, 10 Great Grand Children and 1 Great Great Grand Child. Sisters; Whilemena Gosse and Shirley Baldwin (John (Jr.)). Sisters-in-law; Hazel Hardy and Rowena Ricketts and Brother-in-law; John Cox (Mary).

Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne. Visitation Sunday, May 7 from 12:00-9:00pm. Funeral Service to be held on Monday, May 8 at 11:00 am at the St. John the Baptist Anglican Church.

Harrietta (Harriet) Moriarity

Moriarity, Harrietta (Harriet) , Jan 20, 1940 – Apr 29, 2017. It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Harriet, aged 77 yearsafter a 5 year battle with Dementia.  

Harriet formally from Norman’s Cove-Long Cove, who resided at Honeysuckle Estates in New Harbour and Shagrock Manor in Whiteway.

Predeceased by her parents Alex and Mary-Ellen Vaters, her first husband Arthur Smith (1976) and John (Jack) Moriarity (March 2014), Step-son Jack Jr Moriarity (November 2014), Sisters and Brothers Cyril and Mark Vaters, Gertie Jack, Ethel Mercer, Mary Quilty, Genevieve Vaters, Sisters and Brothers-in-law Nellie Vaters, Phyllis Vaters, Jim Quilty, Bob Mercer, Wallace Squires, Alb Smith, Elsie Burt, Mildred Temple, Ted Smith, Martha Butt, and Lottie Smith.

Leaving to mourn, her only daughter Marie (Derrick McCarthy) (Bellevue), Alisha (Shawn Reid) (Chapel Arm),  her granddaughter who was like her own daughter and Great-Grandmas Girls Taylor and Natalie (who were her treasures), stepchildren Rose, Elizabeth, and David Moriarity and step-daughter-in-law Roseanne Moriarity, and Step-Grandchildren and 5 Step-Great-Grandchildren, and their families.  Survived by her loving sisters Elsie Mercer (Whitbourne), Mable Squires (Moncton, NB),  her brothers Graham Vaters (Whitbourne), Gerard (Ivey) Vaters (Whitbourne), Alex Vaters (Stratford, Ontario), Clayton (Marilyn) Vaters (Stratford, Ontario)Walter (Madeline) Vaters (Fogo Island)and Sisters-in-Law Maxine Vaters (Gander), Marion Vaters (Stratford, Ontario), and Brother-in-law Willie Mercer (Stratford, Ontario)and special sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws from her first marriage Lizzie (Harold) Piercey (Norman’s Cove), Madeline Smith (Norman’s Cove), Ron Smith (Norman’s Cove), Ron (Triffie) Smith (Wesleyville), and Noah Smith (Ontario), special Sister-in-law and brothers-in-laws from her second marriage Bride Moriarity (St. John’s), Bern (Carmel)Moriarity (Bay Roberts), and Mick (Betty) Moriarity (Salmonier Line), also loved by so many nieces and nephews and so many dear friends.

We would like to say a very special Thank-you to Dr Ovo & Dr Howseand all of the Nurses and staff at the Carbonear Hospital, you all were so amazing and you took such great care of Mom for the 7 weeks she was in your care, and we cannot thank-you enough.

RUSSELL, Rosie, Born June 22, 1930 of Blaketown entered Heaven’s Gates on April 25, 2017 surrounded by family and friends.
Predeceased by  husband Fred Russell, son Fred Russell Jr., daughter Eunice Rideout, son-in-law Wayne Jones & great grandson Cade Jones. 
Leaving to mourn daughters; Lily (Dave) Murphy,  Debbie Jones,son; George (Janice) Russell, daughter-in-law; Joy Russell, son-in-law; Freeman Rideout, 16 grandchildren,  27 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren

WHITE, Berkley Jacob, Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s  Hospital, surrounded by his family,Garfield,Theresa, Stephen and Charles on April 20, 2017.
 
Predeceased by father Cleophas and mother Emmaline White, sister Mabel and great nephew Zachary White.  Leaving to mourn Brothers; Llewllyn, Robert (Rose) PEI, Garfield (Theresa) , Harry Otto (Arlene), Kitchener, Stephen, Cleophas, Charles and sister Emmaline (Charles Jesso ) Halifax.  Also leaving to mourn  nieces and nephews, plus a large circle of family and friends.
 Cremation has taken place.  Remains resting at The Good Shepherd Anglican Church, Norman’s Cove. Visitation on Saturday  from 11:00 am – 8:00 pm, Sunday  1:00 -8:00 pm, Monday 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Funeral service to be held on Monday April 24  at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Norman’s Cove. Flowers and donations gratefully accepted.

Edmond George Day

DAY, Edmond George Day,…….  Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital  on April 17, 2017 Edmond Day in his 85th year of life . Edmond was the beloved husband and best friend of Elizabeth ( Piercey) for 63 years. 
He is leaving to mourn the love of his life Betty, daughter Judy (Living in Ontario). Sisters; Lois, Vera & Georgia, Brother-in-law Hubert and sisters-in-law Rowena & Marjorie. Also leaving to mourn a large number of nieces & nephews and many community friends. 
Resting at Bethel United Church, Norman’s Cove. Visitation on Wednesday, April 19th at 3:00 – 9:00 pm.  Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 20th at  2:00 pm. Interment to follow at the United Church Cemetery, Norman’s Cove.

Joan Dollimont

DOLLIMONT, Joan…..Joan Dollimont, 61 passed peacefully away late on Sunday, April 9, 2017 surrounded by family in St. John’s, Newfoundland after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. 
She was born in St. Joseph’s Cove, Newfoundland to Margaret (Sutton) and George Dollimont.  She is predeceased by her father, George and her brother, Brian. 
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim McEntegart, who cared for her every day of her three year battle; her mother, Margaret; her daughter, Jillian Dollimont, and son, Aaron Dollimont (Joanna); step-son Michael McEntegart (Karen), step-daughter Shannon McEntegart (Dennis) and their 10 month old daughter, Alaina; her brother Ernest Dollimont (Linda), sister Brenda Riehl (Russell), sister Theresa Dollimont and sister Gloria Walbourne (Michael).
In healthier times she enjoyed exercise, trivia, puzzles, spending time with loved ones and a fulfilling and impressive career as a civilian RCMP employee.  She will be greatly missed and never forgotten by the Dollimont and McEntegart families and many other family and friends who loved her dearly. 
Her family would like to thank the staff at the Miller Centre, St. John’s for their excellent and kind-hearted care in her last days.

Howard Wilson Newhook

NEWHOOK, Howard Wilson— Dec. 12, 1945 – Mar. 20, 2017. Passed away suddenly at his home in Blaketown, surrounded by his loving family Howard Newhook Predeceased by parents Frank and Agnes Newhook. Brothers; Chesley, Wallace & Alex, Sisters Audrey and Beatrice.  Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 49 yrs Muriel.  Sons,  Paul ( Gail ), Dwayne (Tania). Daughters; Anita (Steven), Carolyn (Lloyd), 2 precious grandchildren Daisy and Brianna. Sister Joyce and a large number of family and friends, all whom he loved dearly. Howard Branton

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Howard Branton of Thornlea announces his passing on Sunday March 19th 2017 at the Carbonear general hospital palliative care at the age of 84 years.

 

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 57 years, Fannie ; son Derek ( Heidi); son Ronald (Christine); daughter Sandra (Wilf); son Curtis (Patricia); as well as his grand-daughter Melissa; grand-sons Stephen (Cassandra); Joshua (Dakota) and Jonathan (Jessica) as well as his two great grand-daughters Charlie and Athena. He also leaves behind his sister Elizabeth and his brother Stanley (Sadie); sisters in-law Alma, Millicent and Shirley; brother in law Hughie other relatives and friends.

 

He was predeceased by his mother and father James and Emma Branton, his step mother Emma, his brother Wayne, his sister Lydia and his brother in law Robert Barnes.

 

Visitations will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday and Wednesday with having the memorial service at 2 on Thursday March 23rd at the Faith United Church in Thornlea .

 

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Faith United Church Memorial Fund, the Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
