With heartfelt sadness and broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Bertha Johnson (nee Alexander) at the beautiful age of 92 years. She passed peacefully away, surrounded by her loving family in the family home in Whitbourne on Wednesday, April 9, 2025

Mom leaves to mourn her 6 children; Richard & (Cathy) Johnson, Patricia & (Lorne) Russell, Theresa & (Jeff) Sloos, Catherine Oke, Mary Johnson, Thomas & (Lisa) Johnson.
She also leaves 16 Grand Children, 22 Great Grand Children, and 1 Great great grand Child.  Our Mom was predeceased by her Husband of 56 years, Richard Henry Johnson, Grandchildren Tyler & Desiree Johnson and Great Grandchild Paige O’Reilly and also her parents, James & Clara Alexander of Stephenville Crossing and all 13 of her Siblings.

Mom was born in Kippens on the west coast of Newfoundland and grew up in Stephenville Crossing. At the age of nineteen, she meet the love of her life, a U.S. serviceman stationed in Stephenville. Mom and Dad moved to Texas in 1952, then to New York and then back to Stephenville Crossing, where the journey began and later finally settling in Whitbourne in 1966.
The Johnson home was a place of love, laughter, hugs and warmth. Mom was the Rock, Heart and Soul of our family. The fond memories of countless times gathered where singing and dancing on special occasions was a huge part of our lives. The doors of our home were always open to friends and strangers alike. Mom was always there with a beautiful smile, a warm welcome and a great sense of humor.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as spending time with precious grandchildren, gardening, and having a good old game of cards. Mom certainly touched the hearts of all who knew her, with her beautiful smile and friendly personality.
Above all, our Mother truly loved each and every one of her family unconditionally!
To the Woman who gave each of us Life, a home, and her undying love, we will be forever thankful.
Mom, Rest in Peace
