Howard Wilson Newhook

NEWHOOK, Howard Wilson— Dec. 12, 1945 – Mar. 20, 2017. Passed away suddenly at his home in Blaketown, surrounded by his loving family Howard Newhook Predeceased by parents Frank and Agnes Newhook. Brothers; Chesley, Wallace & Alex, Sisters Audrey and Beatrice.  Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 49 yrs Muriel.  Sons,  Paul ( Gail ), Dwayne (Tania). Daughters; Anita (Steven), Carolyn (Lloyd), 2 precious grandchildren Daisy and Brianna. Sister Joyce and a large number of family and friends, all whom he loved dearly. Resting at the Salvation Army, Green’s Harbour. Visitation Wednesday and Thursday 10:00 am – 9:00 pm. Friday 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. A celebration of Howard’s life will take place on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blaketown. No flowers by request of the family, donations may be made to the Howard Newhook Memorial Fund.

Howard Branton

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Howard Branton of Thornlea announces his passing on Sunday March 19th 2017 at the Carbonear general hospital palliative care at the age of 84 years.

 

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 57 years, Fannie ; son Derek ( Heidi); son Ronald (Christine); daughter Sandra (Wilf); son Curtis (Patricia); as well as his grand-daughter Melissa; grand-sons Stephen (Cassandra); Joshua (Dakota) and Jonathan (Jessica) as well as his two great grand-daughters Charlie and Athena. He also leaves behind his sister Elizabeth and his brother Stanley (Sadie); sisters in-law Alma, Millicent and Shirley; brother in law Hughie other relatives and friends.

 

He was predeceased by his mother and father James and Emma Branton, his step mother Emma, his brother Wayne, his sister Lydia and his brother in law Robert Barnes.

 

Visitations will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday and Wednesday with having the memorial service at 2 on Thursday March 23rd at the Faith United Church in Thornlea .

 

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Faith United Church Memorial Fund, the Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Denis Murphy

MURPHY, Denis,  May 4, 1917 – March 13, 2017. With gratitude for a long and happy life, filled with love and devotion to his family and service to others, the family of Denis Murphy, Long Harbour, announce his peaceful passing at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home in his 100th year. Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (2011) and son Aloysuis (1994).
Leaving to mourn his daughters; Cecilia (Gordon) Brothers, Bridget Keating and Yvonne Murphy; his sons; Terry (Betty), Gerard (Vivian), Dennis, Colin and Richard.
21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren,brother, Anthony (Anita), sister, Jenny Keating. and other relatives and many friends.
Special  thanks to the kind and caring staff of 3 south , St. Patrick’s Mercy Home, St. John’s where he resided for the past 5 years.
Visitation at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne, Wed. 1:00 – 7:00. Thurs. 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. Funeral mass well be held at St. Francis Xavier Church, Long Harbour on Thursday at 2:00 pm. Cremation to follow.

Committal will  take place on May 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Long Harbour

Phoebe Doris Temple

TEMPLE, Phoebe Doris Troke Fahey, October 23, 1921….. March 5, 2017. Phoebe passed away peacefully with family by her side at Carbonear General Hospital at age 95. Predeceased by husbands Edward (Ned) Fahey and William (Jack) Temple. Predeceased by sisters, Olive Annie and Earnistine. Survived by sister Georgina.
Predeceased  by children Lawrence, Shirley, Gerald and four babies. Survived by sons; Tom ( Doreen ), Francis (Lynn), Michael (Gloria), Edward (Lisa), Felix (Wende), and daughters Ellen, Ann (Tom), and Evelyn (Winston). Survived by 34 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 26 great great grandchildren.
Phoebe was the matriarch of her family and was loved by all who knew her. Phoebe raised 11 children on her own after her husband, Edward passed away.Phoebe was known for putting her children first, making sure they had the very best she could provide, taught her children from both the mother and father role. Phoebe loved when her children came to visit her by surprise. Her family was the world to her. Phoebe delivered  2 babies, ran her own store, would help anyone in need, would feed anyone who came into her house and was a strong, independent woman.
Visitation will be held at the Bethel United Church, Norman’s Cove on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 10:00 am to 9:30 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Bethel United Church in Norman’s Cove on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm.

Clifford Edwin Lundrigan

LUNDRIGAN, Clifford Edwin,  March 14, 1928 – March 1st, 2017. Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre on March 1. 2017 Clifford Lundrigan in his 88th year. Predeceased by his wife Bernice.
Leaving to mourn with loving memories are his precious children; Betty ( Graham), Noel (Marilyn), Clifford Jr,  Barbara (George), Sadie ( Merdick), Rick (Paula),  Patsy ( Winston), Donny (Glenda), Roger (Tracy), Keith (Florence), Denise (Darrell), Dennis (Kelly). 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren.  Also a large circle of  family and friends.
