SMITH, Mary Alice,  Passed peacefully away at the Placentia Health Centre on April 27, 2022 Mary Smith of Norman’s Cove at the age of 85. A wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother. Beautiful lady with a heart of gold. Known and  loved by all. Well known in the  community for her garden, her generosity, and her bread.  She opened her home, her arms and heart to many. Family meant everything to her. It didn’t matter if you were blood related or not, she accepted you and loved you as her own. She will leave an empty space in the hearts of many.

Predeceased by her husband, Eldridge G. Smith, parents; Nathanial and Jane Newhook, siblings;  William Newhook and Clarence Newhook.

Leaving behind  brothers; Wince & Evelyn Newhook: John & Virginia Newhook, sisters; Marcie & Harvey Piercey. Children: Berdina  & Carl Smith, Laurence & Tammy Smith; Andrew Smith; Scott & Susan Smith.

Grandchildren: Ginger Burke, Christie Cooper, Sara Didham, Russell Smith, Cory Smith, Angela Smith, Carley Mitchell, Melissa Smith, Ashley Power, Stacey Power, Tonja Janes.     Great-Grandchildren:  Michael, Cody, Hannah, Noah, Emma, Leah, James, Isla, Jordyn, Bailey, Shelby, Elizabeth, Levi, Jackson, Rylee, Keegan.

Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home on Saturday May 7th, 2022.  Visitation at 11:30 am and the service will be held at 1:30 pm at the funeral home.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the matriarch of the Temple family, a dear wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Martha Doris (Dos) Temple (December 5^th, 1937) who passed peacefully away at her home on Thursday, April 21^st at 4:10 am. surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents, Robert and Matilda Newhook, parents-in-law, Arthur and Dorcas Temple, son-in-law Kevin, brothers-in-law Levi, Cyril, and Jacob, and sisters-in-law Judy, Julie, and Pearl.

Lovingly remembered and forever missed by her husband and best friend of 68 years, Clement Temple; her eight loving children, Christine, Robert (Velma), Janice, Lois (Rick), Judy (Keith), Roger (Cathy), Wesley (Wanda), and Jody (Nora); her 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, her two brothers, Wesley (Rosland) Newhook and Alf Newhook, sister in laws Marion White and Elsie Temple, as well as a large number of relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank her amazing homecare workers Joanne Smith and Jacqui Crittenden, who quickly became part of our family.  We would also like to send a special thanks to Robyn from Eastern Health for all of her support.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 12pm at Holloways Funeral Home in Whitbourne.  Immediately following, a celebration of her life will be held at Norman’s Cove Community Centre beginning at 2pm and is open for all family and friends to attend.

She is leaving her family deeply saddened with a void that can never be filled.

Lloyd Peddle. January 8, 1948- April 7, 2022. Passed peacefully away at the Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear on April 7, 2022, at the age 74 years.

Predeceased by parents Mehelon and Maude (Clarke) Peddle. Brothers, Reginald Peddle, ex-wife Grace Smith.

Leaving to mourn brother Gordon (Ada) Peddle, Sister in-law Rose (Peddle)Hillier. Victor Harrison Smith. September 22, 1938- April 4, 2022. Passed peacefully away after a brief illness at the Health Science Center on April 4, 2022 Victor Harrison Smith age 83 years.

Predeceased by parents Obediah and Elizabeth Maude (Reid) Smith. Brothers, Reginald Smith, Andrew LeRoy Smith, sister;  Geneva Reid, sister-in-law, Joyce Smith, brothers-in-law, Charles Cumby, Ronald Elgar, and nephew Reginald Smith.

Leaving to mourn brothers,  Frederick and Lyndon Smith (Patsy). Sisters, Loretta Elgar, Stella Cumby, Geraldine Smith and sister-in-law Alvina Smith. Also leaving to mourn many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and one great grandniece.

Cremation has taken place. Interment to follow at a later date at the Anglican Cemetery, Chance Cove.

Saturday, April 9, 10:00 am-12:00 noon, 2:00- 5:00 and 7:oo – 9:oo pm. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday,  April 10, 2022  at2:00 pm from  St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Whitbourne.

Nicholas Dobbin. April 1st, 1948 – March 27th, 2022. It is with great  sadness  that the family of Nicholas Dobbin of Whitbourne announce his peaceful passing on  March 27th, 2022 at the Health Science Centre, St. John’s.

Predeceased by parents Annie and Vincent Dobbin, Upper Island Cove. Mother and father-in-law, Mary and William H Mercer, of Whitbourne. Sister Bride Verge of  Harbour Grace and  brother-in-law John w. Mercer, Whitbourne.

Leaving to mourn his best friend and loving wife of 52 years Patsy. Daughter Joan and son-in-law Mike and his pride and joy special grandson Steven. Also leaving to mourn brothers Kevin (Jeanne), P.E.I., Dave (Brenda ), Harbour Grace, George, Whitbourne, Gary (Renee), Spaniards Bay. Sisters Kathleen (Dave) Mercer,  Angela Harbour Grace.
