James Ross Thistle
October 1, 1945 – February 28, 2024

James Ross Thistle, of Goobies, passed away peacefully at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, on February 28, 2024.
James, known as Jim, was born in Broad Cove, Conception Bay, to George and Helen Thistle. After finishing school, he moved to Fair Haven to work as a teacher in the local school at the age of 16. There, he met his wife of 56 years, Myrtle. They later settled in Goobies, and had two children, Nancy and Todd. Jim was known for his boundless energy and calm demeanor. And most often could be heard whistling as he went about his work and daily activities. Throughout the years, Jim could be found in his garage, in the woods or on the road camping and relaxing. His camping travels took him to the nooks and crannies of NL as well as other parts of Canada and the US. While he was very busy enjoying life, there was always time for his grandkids Jill and Grace.
Jim is survived by his wife Myrtle, son Todd (Jackie and Jill), daughter Nancy (Sheldon and Grace); brother and sisters Dave (Betty), Rhoda, Dorothy (Norman), Brenda and Phyllis; sister in law, Rosie,  Wendy Collett. brother in law Albert, as well as a large circle of family and friends.
The tears in our eyes we can wipe away,
the ache in our hearts will always stay.
Tenderly we treasure the past,
with loving memories that will always last.
