Joan Dollimont

DOLLIMONT, Joan…..Joan Dollimont, 61 passed peacefully away late on Sunday, April 9, 2017 surrounded by family in St. John’s, Newfoundland after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. 
She was born in St. Joseph’s Cove, Newfoundland to Margaret (Sutton) and George Dollimont.  She is predeceased by her father, George and her brother, Brian. 
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim McEntegart, who cared for her every day of her three year battle; her mother, Margaret; her daughter, Jillian Dollimont, and son, Aaron Dollimont (Joanna); step-son Michael McEntegart (Karen), step-daughter Shannon McEntegart (Dennis) and their 10 month old daughter, Alaina; her brother Ernest Dollimont (Linda), sister Brenda Riehl (Russell), sister Theresa Dollimont and sister Gloria Walbourne (Michael).
In healthier times she enjoyed exercise, trivia, puzzles, spending time with loved ones and a fulfilling and impressive career as a civilian RCMP employee.  She will be greatly missed and never forgotten by the Dollimont and McEntegart families and many other family and friends who loved her dearly. 
Her family would like to thank the staff at the Miller Centre, St. John’s for their excellent and kind-hearted care in her last days.
Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 2:00 – 9:00 pm. Wednesday 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Funeral Mass well be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm from St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Whitbourne.

  5. Joan taught me at Roncalli back in the early 1980’s. She was my homeroom Grade 7 teacher and left a remarkable impression on me. Thank you Joan for teaching me to stand tall in life.

  28. I am so shocked to hear about an old friend who I went to school with from Grade 1 to Grade 11. We did our first communion together, got confirmed together and went to school and graduated together. I have not seen Joan in years, but I always wondered which path she had taken after finishing school. I can tell by the many memorials that she had a great career in teaching where she influenced and inspired many young people. Heartfelt condolences go out to Erie, Brenda, Theresa, Gloria, and her mom, Margaret. I also send my condolences to Jim and family. Take care and God Bless this family during this time of sorrow!

    I was fortunate to have spent time with Joan and had gotten to know her well when we shared an apartment in St. John’s during university in the fall of 1976. Her intelligence, sensitivity and sense of humour endeared her to all, but above everything it was Joan’s quiet manner and gentle spirit that

    I worked with Joan a long time ago (1997-2002) with PIAT. I was just starting my teaching career and Joan more than once offered words of advise and humor. I remember her kindness and her laughter. Sorry for your loss.
