MERCER, Clarence Edwin, Passed away suddenly at the Health Science Center, St. John’s, on Tuesday, February 6th. 2018 in his 71st year, Clarence Edwin Mercer,
Whitbourne. Predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Minnie Mercer, brother Melvin and his wife Fiona. Leaving to mourn with precious memories his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Shelagh (nee O’ Reilly); children, Kristi (Darren) Sooley, Shawn Mercer (Misha), Heather Mercer (Barney); brother, Wayne (Brenda); precious grandchildren, Nathan, Ella, Patrick, Heidi, Kenneth, Samuel, Ally and Taylor. As well as a large number of relatives and friends, and his devoted feline friend, Bully-Boy. Visitation will be held at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne, on Thursday, February 8th, 2018 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm and Friday, February 9th, between 11:00 am -4:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10th, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Trinity United Church, Blaketown. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. “May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields and, Until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”

  7. Aunt Shelagh, Kristi, Shawn and Heather we are all deeply saddened by this great loss. We know how your hearts are breaking and we want you to know that we, while not there, are keeping you all close in our thoughts and prayers. Uncle Clarence was such a wonderful soul. You were blessed to have such a kind, gentle, loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. He loved you all so very, very much. He left you all with such wonderful memories and you must cherish them all as they will give you comfort and peace now. May he Rest In Peace and let perpetual light shine upon him.

It is with extreme sadness at this time for the loss of my childhood friend Clarence we had many fishing days then as well as on the ball field across from his house I have never forgotten you my friend until we meet again, my prayers and thoughts are for your family your pain is over may god keep you at his side

Lew knew Clarence years ago and he often speaks of conversations with him up on the salmon river.
