It is with profound sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing of Everett Crann on July 6th at the age of 61 yrs.
Predeceased by parents Ron and Francis, brothers Harold, Nathan and Richard.
Lovingly remembered by his soulmate and wife Linda, daughters Joanne,  Nicole (Marcel) and Charmaine (Joey). Grandchildren Hailey, Paige, James and Talon. Brothers and sisters, Edgar (Audrey) Louise, Beulah (Gerald), Nina, Lucy (Roland), Sheila (Kevin), Allen (Lillian) Ronald Jr. (Mary). Sister -in-laws  Martha and Joyce. And the many nieces, nephews and family.
There will be visitation on Thursday July 7th at the Anglican Church, Chance Cove  from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held at the Chance Cove Anglican Church Friday July 8th 2pm followed by refreshments.

Eleanor Piercey

Eleanor Piercey
March 22, 1967 – June 17, 2022

Eleanor passed away peacefully at the age of 55 years at Northern Lights Regional Hospital in Fort McMurray, Alberta in the presence of her good friend, Bobbi Morgan and family.
Predeceased by parents, Margaret and Gordon Piercey; sister, Ivy Piercey Sorenson; and brother, Lindsay Piercey.
Leaving to mourn her fur baby, Sasha (the pride and joy of her life); sisters, Frances (Peter, deceased); Clara (Dave) Moores; Kathleen (Pete) Hopkins; Irene (Shawn) Piercey; brothers, Clifford (Bonnie) Piercey; and Leo (Rosie) Piercey. Also, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends here in NL and Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Thank you to the Compton family of Fort McMurray for being her special neighbors and friends for the last 22 years.

Today we lost the matriarch of our family.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our precious Mom, Marion. Gone to be happily reunited with her Husband Jerry and family members gone before.
‘our loss is heaven’s gain’.   Marion was predeceased by her husband Jerry, Parents Arthur and Dorcas Temple, Sons Wendall and Rick, Daughter Pauline Smith, Grandson Brian Smith and son in law, Ray Saunders; Brothers Levi Temple, Cyril Temple, Jake Temple and Gladys, Sister Julie Warren and Gordon, Sister Pearl Whitten and Charles. Sister Emily Layman and Will. Sister in law Doris Temple.  Leaving to mourn Daughter Helen, Sons Ross (Denise), Curt (Tina), Clem (Janet). Brother Clem Temple, Son in law Garland Smith, Sister in Law, Elsie Temple.
16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild. Her care workers Molly, Andrea, Lillian, Shirley, Irene who’s been her family the past 2 1/2 years. Also Deanna, Jennie, Evelyn, Sandra, Debbie, Amanda and Lori who were always available when we needed someone to fill in.

Marion was a loving mother, a friend to many, a hard working and generous soul who served many meals to friends and family.  Her home was always open to everyone  She loved music and a good time. She was in her glee when some of the crowd turned up with guitars for a sing song, especially her brother Cyril.  You are my sunshine was her favorite song and she could sing it up until recently.

As an expression of sympathy donations to the Janeway Children’s Hospital or a charity of ones choice would be appreciated.
Visitation will be at Holloways Funeral Home, Whitbourne on Saturday,  June 25  from 7-9 pm (Family) and Sunday June 26 from 10:00 am -5:00 pm for Family and Friends.

Funeral Service will be held at Good Shepherd Church, Norman’s Cove,  Tuesday June 28 at 2:00 pm.

Remember me with smiles not tears for all the joy throughout the years, don’t dwell on thoughts that cause us pain, we will see each other again.  I am at peace try to believe, it was my time I had to leave. But what a view I have from here, I see your face and feel you near. Whatever you want to do, do it now. There are only so many tomorrows.

Ron Cardwell

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Edgar Cardwell. Born to the late Ernest and Rowena Cardwell on August 8th 1943, Ron passed away on June 12th, 2022 at the age of 78.

Ron was blessed with large and loving groups of family and friends both within Newfoundland and Ontario. He is predeceased by his brothers Bob, Stan and Ernie, and his sisters Marjorie, Viola and Ruth.

He leaves behind his loving and loyal partner of 18 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Cardwell with whom he happily spent the best years of his life. Ron will also be greatly missed by his children Dave Cardwell (Nicole) and Sheri Cardwell-Trozzo, and grandchildren Breanna, Kayla, Joshua, Samantha and Ryan.

 

He is survived by his treasured sister Joyce Mercer, who was able to be there with him in his final moments, and her partner Dave Sooley, who was a solid friend to Ron and always there to lend a hand over the years. Ron will be missed by his many nieces and nephews in Newfoundland and Ontario who have surrounded him with love across the years. A special thank you to Ernie, Lori, Beverly, Arlene, and spouses, who were always there and ready to offer support when needed.

Ron served in the Artillery sector of the Canadian Armed Forces from 1961-1968 and was a dedicated soldier. He proceeded to commit over 30 years of his life loyally to Loblaws as a Transportation Manager and continued to work post-retirement as a school bus driver in Renfrew, ON.

 

Ron will be remembered as a strong and proud man with a big heart, and will forever be missed but never forgotten by anyone whose lives he has touched.

Visitation will take place at Holloway Funeral Home in Whitbourne, Newfoundland on Tuesday,  June 14th, 2022 from 7pm-9pm.  Wednesday, April 15, from 10:00 am until time of funeral, Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm  at Holloway’s Funeral Home. Cremation will take place as requested by Ron. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or your local Humane Society are appreciated.

Rita M. Lockyer

Lockyer, Rita M.  April 15, 1946 – June 9, 2022.  It is with great love and grief that the family of the late Rita Lockyer announce her passing on Thursday, June 09, 2022 at  Carbonear Hospital. Predeceased by husbands Bill and George. Parents John and Madeline Legge. Sister Frannie and brother-in-law Ralph, nephew Barry, brother John.

 

Leaving to mourn sisters; Valerie (Jim deceased), Vina (Lloyd),  Annie (Ted),  Brothers: Raymond (Sandra), Albert (Elaine),  George (Barb), Freeman (Irene).Sisters-in-law:  Emma, Madonna, Mondella and Jane. It’s with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our Mom, Marie Pinsent, on June 08, 2022 at Glenbrook Lodge, St. John’s, NL. Predeceased by her son, Gerry, and husband, Anthony.  Left to celebrate her life and legacy of love are her daughter Kim, son Joe, grandchildren Sean (Amiee),  Colleen, Ashley, Brooklyn and great-grandchild Harley. 

Marie was born in Low Point, Conception Bay and grew up in Caplin Cove. She met the love of her life, Anthony, and married him at the tender age of 16. They lived all their life in Bellevue and were married for 62 years. 

Anyone who met Marie could easily tell she loved to laugh and had a clever disposition. You needed to wake up pretty early to get one over her!  She loved her family and especially her husband Anthony(most of the time). She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A special thank you to the exceptional staff at Glenbrook Lodge who gave Marie loving care during her stay there. It was greatly appreciated!

Passed peacefully away on May 21 at her home in Norman’s Cove, surrounded by her devoted family, Jeannette (Jennie) Enwood Newhook.  Predeceased by her parents: Absalom and Ruby Newhook, infant brother, Absalom John and her infant Daughter.   Left to celebrate her life and legacy of love, her sons David (Jessica) and Eric (Victoria); grandchildren, Elliott, Amelia, Quinn, Scout and her precious new baby to be, her beloved sister and companion, Linda Mercer (Aaron);  her brothers, Roger (Beulah), Dave (Lori), Eric (Valerie), Philip (Karen), Keith (Laurie) and Peter (Donna); as well as her ex husband, Hubert Enwood who has been a great support to her and their family; a larger circle of nieces, nephews and friends, especially  her nieces, Tara and Juanita, who were like daughters to Jennie.

 

Visitation will be held at the Good Sheppard Anglican Church, Norman’s Cove on Monday, May 23rd   from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Funeral Service will be held at the church on Tuesday May 24th at 3:00 PM.    Cremation will follow.   Interment will take place at the Good Shepard Cemetery on Thursday May 25th at 2:00PM.

Passed peacefully away at the Placentia Hospital on May 20, 2022 Lorraine Burke of Long Harbour, Placentia Bay in her 104th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Cyril, 1998. Also predeceased by her parents James and Margaret Murphy, sisters: Druscilla and Imelda; brothers: Peter, William, Albert, Denis, Philip, Randolph, Leonard, and Walter; sisters-in-law: Mary Ann (Burke) Keating and Elizabeth (Burke) Murphy; brothers-in-law: Michael, Denis, John, Edward and Andrew; son-in-law James Norman. Ever loved by children: Lyla (Ray) Keating, Leah Burke-Norman, Ralph (deceased), Peggy (deceased); grandchildren: Steven Keating (Cecilia), Josh Keating (Laura), Nikita Norman (Patrick Fowler), Amber Norman (Garrett Buurke) and Samantha Power; 8 great grandchildren; and a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Lorraine and Cyril were married on Crawley’s Island, Long Harbour, Placentia Bay in January 1945. Their only child was stillborn, however she and Cyril choose to raise, love and give an amazing life to four other children. Two were her niece and nephew Lyla and Ralph. After her sister Imelda died when Lyla was 20 months old and Ralph was 4 they took them into their home and became their second Mom and Dad. Later they decided they wanted to add to their family circle and adopted a daughter, Leah, and two years later another daughter, Peggy. We are forever grateful for the love and care they always bestowed on us.

Lorraine worked in her younger years. On the American Naval Base in Argentia during WWII and following that in the early years of their marriage in a factory in Toronto. She was also the first Avon Lady in Long Harbour.
She loved going shopping and was able to keep doing that right up to a couple of months after she was 102.
She had a phenomenal memory which never faded and could recall in great detail things that happened in her childhood and throughout her life.
She was Aunt Lol to many nieces and nephews who always visited whenever they could and sent her cards and gifts on special occasions, she loved those visits, remembrances, and the many phone calls from them.
She lived in her own home that was built by Cyril in 1944-45 right up to a couple of weeks before her 103rd birthday when she moved to the Beachside Manor in Placentia. Many thanks to the owners and staff of Beachside Manor for their care during her short stay there. Also many thanks to her many friends who kept in touch with frequent phone calls that she appreciated so much. She always looked forward to Rita Keating’s Friday afternoon call.  special thank you to Kim Power who was her home care worker and who became her close friend. They had many laughs together  telling each  other jokes and stories.

Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne. Visitation, Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 1 – 5 pm and 6 – 8 pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Francis Xavier RC Church, Long Harbour. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to St. Francis Xavier Church, Long Harbour.

Cyril Joseph Barron

January 16, 1944 – May 19, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful father, grandfather, father in law, brother, uncle and friend.

Cyril passed away peacefully at the Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion in Carbonear surrounded by his loved ones. Preceded in Death are his parents Rose and John Barron, sister Aggie as well brothers Darry and Kevin.

He has left behind son Chris (Sherry) and two grandchildren Megan and Shane. Brothers Jack, Bill, Ben, Jerry, Greg. Sisters Marion, Theresa, Doreen, Debbie and Tiny. Many nieces and nephews and a special friend Marg Jackson.

Cyril was a very hard worker and provided well for his family. He loved his job at the Whitbourne Youth Center where he worked for over 30 years. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Cyril enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved going for his summer drive to Nova Scotia to visit his sisters Debbie and Theresa. He enjoyed a good flea market, funny movie and good plate of fries and gravy with a burger.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a private family gathering in his name at Holloways Funeral Home on Monday, May 23,2022  from  12:00-2:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm at the Funeral Home.

Love Leaves A Memory- Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear. For death leaves a heartache, no one can heal. And love leaves a memory, no one can steal.

Passed peacefully away at her home on May 18, 2022, Dorothy (Dos) White (nee Gilbert) of Whitbourne, age 94 years.
Predeceased by her husband Graham, sisters Margaret Barrett, Gladys Ash and May Ivany.
Leaving behind to celebrate her life are her children Reg (Betty), Ron (Alice), Phyllis, Dave (Norma), Beverley and Ken (Deanne), her sister, Isabelle and her brothers George (Yvonne) and Fred (Sylvia), her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends and her special home care worker, Karen Penney.
Resting at Holloways Funeral Home, Whitbourne with visitation on Friday, May 20, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
A service of celebration and remembrance for Dorothy will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 2 pm at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Whitbourne, with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Whitbourne. Masks will be required at the funeral home and church service.
No flowers by request. Donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Newfoundland and Labrador Diabetes Association.
