It is with great sadness and heavy heart that we announce the passing of Pauline on December 14, 2016 at the age of 56. Survived by her loving Husband Garland; Sons Edward (April); David (Tash); Daughter Crystal (Paul); Grand Daughter Claire; Mother Marion; Brothers Clem (Janet); Ross (Denise); Curt (Cynthia); Sister Helen (Ray); Sister-in-laws Jenny (Tom); Gail (Ivan); Brother-in-law Howard (Alice); Nieces and Nephews as well as many other family and friends. Special thanks to the nursing staff of 4 North B at the Health Science Centre. Also a heartfelt thank you to friends and family for their continuous support. A service honouring Pauline’s life will take place at the United Church in Thornlea on Saturday December 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm.

Arthur Thorne

November 4, 1931 – December 3, 2016. THORNE, Arthur of Chapel Arm passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre on December 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
Predeceased by his parents Wilson and Bertha Thorne,  Brothers Lias, Sisters,  Pheobe Olive and Lillias. In laws, John and Lydia Thorne, Albert Smith, Dorthy Thorne, Keith Choate, Edward Thorne, Jane & Hary Newhook, Gerald Peddle. 
Forever loved by his wife of almost 57 years Edith Thorne. children: Curtis  ( Barbara), Bertha (Kenneth),  Cynthia (Craig), Catherine (Darrell), Linda (David), Kimberly (Donald), Arthur (Melissa),
Grandchildren,  Lee (Diana), Sheldon, Nicole (Ben ), Jayce , Cody (Isabella), Kelsey, Kali (Alex), Tasha, Samantha, Zachary, Jessica, Benjamin, Allyson, and Parker. Step grandchildren; Adam (Shannon), Mark (Melissa), Holly (Calvin). 
Great Grandchildren; Liam, Jayden, Sydney, Claire, Mason, Rachael, Spencer and Brody.
Sibling’s; Cecil (Nina), Della (Tom) , Madeline, Alfred (Lillian), Ted (Rhoda), Margaret, Ernest (Josie),  In-laws: Marina, Blanche (Saul), Rex (Maxine), Beatie, Bernard (Louise).  A large number of nieces, nephews,  and a large circle of friends.
Art was a man of great faith, he was always been an active member of his church. He was a member of the Orangeman’s Lodge, a member of the Town Council; and served on many committees. He was a wonderful husband, dad, pop, great pop, brother, uncle and friend. He will be forever missed.
Resting at  St. John the Baptist Church, Chapel Arm. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 6. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 2:00 pm.  Interment at the Anglican  Cemetery  Long Harbour Road.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Memorial Fund or The Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Holloway’s Funeral Home.

Doris Rita Cumby

CUMBY, Doris Rita (nee Rowe),  July 17, 1921 – Dec 01, 2016. Passed away at her daughter’s home in Whitbourne on Dec 1, 2016, Doris Cumby of Green’s Harbour.
Predeceased by her husband Hubert, daughter Sylvia (Cumby) Dickey. son; Leonard, Grand-daughters; Carolyn West, Cathy West, Sharon West, Katherine (Kay ) Drover, and Eileen Cumby.
Left to mourn daughters: Mildred (Cumby ) West, Betty (Jim) Weir, Barbara (Lloyd) Drover, Lorraine (Dennis) Parr. Sons: Raymond (Lonnie) , Brendan (Susan), Bernie, Garry (Wendy). Also a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends.
Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne.  Visitation: Friday 4:00 – 9:30 pm. Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am – 9:30 pm. Monday 10:00 am – 11:00 am.
Funeral service well be held on Monday at 1:00 pm from the Salvation Army Church, Green’s Harbour. Interment at the United Cemetery, Green’s Harbour.

Ada Jones ( Nee Sheppard )

JONES,  Ada, (nee Sheppard ) . November 29, 1924  –  November 29, 2016. Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, November 29th at Carbonear General Hospital, Ada Jones of Whitbourne on her 92nd Birthday.
Predeceased by her husband, Olaf; daughter; Tina daughter-in-law, Karen.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her 8 sons: Wayne (Maureen),  Bob (Lorraine), Olaf (Heather), Derrick (Norma), Gordon, Calvin (Kim), Mark (Janis), John (Loretta), 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends.
Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne. Visitation on Wednesday, November 30 at 2:00 – 9:30 pm. Thursday. December 1, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Funeral Service will be  held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, at 2:00 pm.  Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Whitbourne. Thelma Christian

CHRISTIAN, Thelma  (née Gosse).
On Wednesday November 2, 2016, Thelma Jane  Providence Christian (née Gosse) of Whitbourne suddenly passed away at 66  years of age, bringing a premature end to a life of laughter, adventure, and love.
After death, her organs gave life to three individuals elsewhere in Canada.  Born February 4, 1950, she was the youngest of twelve children of  Private John Gosse (1st Battalion, Royal Newfoundland Regiment) and family matriarch Beatrice Gosse (née Drover).  Thelma was predeceased by brothers Frank, Eddie, John and Sidney and sisters Bertie (Buck) and Elsie (Hendricks). Thelma contributed exemplary administrative skills to many
provincial and national programs. Her role as co-ordinator of the Diploma in Native and Northern Education in Labrador (TEPL) at Memorial University occupied a special place in her heart.  In retirement, she enjoyed the
beauty of her Province and spending time with friends and family.
Left with happy and loving memories are her devoted husband, Mr. Denny Christian; son, Dr. Derek Puddester (Luc Durand); step-sons Mr. Stephen Christian (Ms. Megan Leach) and Mr. Robert Christian (Ms. Pamela George); grandchildren William Puddester-Rose, Samantha and William Christian; great-grandchild, Mallory Christian-Speek; brothers Chesley and Edgar; sisters Ivy (Robbins), Margaret (King), and Linda Gosse; and numerous other family and friends, including first husband Mr. Gordon Puddester (Pat Shears).
The family welcomes visitors at Holloway’s Funeral Home, 33A Cabot Avenue, Whitbourne on Saturday November 5, 2016 (1900-2100), Sunday November 6, 2016 (1000-1200; 1400-1600; 1900-2100), and Monday November 7, 2016 (1000-1200). Loved ones are invited to participate in a celebration of her life at St. John the Baptist (Anglican) Church in Whitbourne on Monday November 7, 2016 at 1400.

PINSENT. Helen. (Pretty). 1922 – 2016, Oct 17 at 4:50 am. Passed peacefully away at the Lion’s Manor, Placentia in the presence of family members, on October 17, 2016  Helen Pinsent age 94 years of Bellevue.
Predeceased by her Husband Clarence, Father William Pretty, Mother Bridget Pretty (King), brother Patrick, sisters; Sarah, Catherine, Bridget, Elizabeth and Mary Ellen.
Leaving to mourn with many fond memories son’s; Leo (Emma), Edward (Karen), Clarence (Melody), Jack ( Lorraine), Don ( Donna), Bill (Suzanne),  Rick (Suzanne), Alex (Bernice). daughters; Chris (Keith) Hanly, Irene (Clar) Newhook, Mary (Ron), Marilyn (Gorm ) Temple, Gayle (Pat) Robinson, sister Marcella Newhook also many grandchildren ( special mention Andrea and Nadine), great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, and a large circle of family and friends. A special thank you to the staff of the Lion’s Manor for all your care you gave mom.
Resting at Sacred Heart Church, Bellevue. Visitation Tuesday 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Wednesday  2:00 – 4:00 pm and  7:00 – 9:30 pm. 
Funeral mass will take place on Thursday , at 11:00 am .Donations in her memory may be made to the Sacred Heart Church, Bellevue.

If we handled the funeral of your loved one and you would like to have a Christmas ball hung on the tree with your love ones name on it let us know through private message or email me at poweroffaith@eastlink.ca.And after Christmas you may pick up the ball so you can place on your own tree next Christmas. There will be no charge to have this done.
