Bridget Lynch

Lynch, Bridget, (Bridie). In the presence of those she loved, on Saturday, October 10th at the Carbonear Long Term Care facility, Bridie departed this earthly world to reunite with those who’ve long awaited the opportunity to hold her once again. Predeceased by her husband William, youngest son John, son-in-law Tom; her parents Edward and Margaret Hyde; sisters Philomena House (Robert), Margaret Lynch (Sandy), brothers Patrick (Theresa) Hyde, Edward Hyde (Mary) and Johnny Hyde. Left to mourn with treasured memories are her sister Catherine (Gerald), loving children Cathy, Billy (Geraldine), Tom (Sheila), Gerard (Geraldine), Bob (Tracey), daughter-in-law Nancy, grandchildren Kenneth, Leslie-Ann, Michael, Heather, Justin, Jessica, William, Harrison, Emily and Johnny, great grandchildren Thomas, Nicholas, Tyler and Evalyn, brothers- and sisters-law Theresa (Ron), Josephine (Mike), Jim (Mary), Brendan (Florence), Gerald, Antoinette and a very large circle of nieces and nephews who will remember Bridie with great affection and love. A special thank you to Antoinette (Toni) for the extra care, support and love provided over the last few years.

Words cannot do justice to the love that Bridie shared with this world. She did not simply give love; she was love incarnate. She had that rare and wonderful gift of being able to divide her love amongst her multitude of family and friends, and still make each person feel that they were getting her entire heart… because they were. Like the many beautiful quilts she created, her life was a tapestry of love, woven with kindness, compassion and enduring faith. Through the good times and bad, through love and loss, Bridie remained steadfast in her commitment to her family. Never afraid to share her opinion or give advice where it was needed, she helped shape the lives of countless people. However one knew her – be it Mudder, Nan, Aunt B, or friend – she mothered all. In Bridie’s home, in her kitchen, or in her arms, there was comfort to be found. Always ready with a hot cup of tea, a delicious meal, a game of cards, cookies for the children, or a joke to brighten your day, it was impossible not to smile in her presence. In her home, there was a warmth that was not necessarily of the woodstove. Many a loud, loving family gathering would fade to respectful silence when Bridie sat at the table and sang one of the ‘old songs’. Her voice would take you to another time and place as, with eyes closed, she let the melody carry her away. Though small in stature, she stood tall every day of her life, backing down from none of the challenges presented to her. Though she never drove, she navigated all of life’s roads with unwavering energy and pride. Hers was a journey of love and strength, and hers is a legacy that will endure forever.

Due to current public health restrictions, a family service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th, at Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when all loved ones can attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice
