THORNE, Deborah ( Debbie), Passed peacefully away on August 30, 2018 at the age of 59, surrounded by her loving family and devoted husband of 42 years, Calvin. Predeceased by parents George & Genevieve White, parents in law Cecil & Emily Thorne and her grandson Nathaniel. Left with fond and loving memories are her devoted husband Calvin Thorne, children; Tonya (Douglas) Somerton, Keith (April) Thorne, Justin (Krista) Thorne and grandchildren Tamera, Kaitlyn, Racheal, Isabella, great grandson Tai and her best friend Jean Smith. Also left with loving memories are those she considered family, Donnie Hutchings (Elaine) and Jessica Mason (Iyla, Avery). Siblings; Wilfred (Irene), Barb (Harry), Terry (Jean) and Dean (Nancy), as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Resting at Holloways Funeral Home, Whitbourne, on Saturday September 1 from 3-9pm and Sunday September 2 10am-9pm. On August 23, 2018 , our loss became Heaven’s gain on August 23, 2018 when our precious Mother, Mavis Jean (Smith) Suley, aged 88 years, passed away at Carbonear Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband George Suley, her son, Calvin George Suley, her sister Shirley Sheppard (Harvey), brothers- G. Randell Smith(Hilda), Harold Smith (Alma), and Arthur (Ted) Smith, and her parents Arthur and Daisy Smith.; brothers-in-law Joseph Suley (Isabel), Gordon Suley & Arthur Suley (Margaret).
Left with fond and loving memories are her three daughters Sandra Russell (Dereck), Marilyn Rees (Irwin); Rhonda Fowler (Calvin) and son Terrance Suley (Faith); six grandchildren Craig Russell (Trudy), Stephen Russell (Sarah), Gillian Suley (Andy), Terry Suley, Christopher Suley & Ryan Fowler. Seven great-grandchildren – Alex, Noelle. Emma, Leah, Ethan, Blake & Carly; also her brothers Kevin Smith(Bernice), Albert Smith( Doreen); and Robert Smith (Joan) and one sister-in-law Margaret (Peggy) Smith, and sister-in-law, Shirley Hollett. plus large circle of nieces, nephews, her church family and many friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at Trinity United Church Sunday at 2pm, with internment to follow in the Whitbourne United Church Cemetery. Words cannot express our heartbreak as we announce on August 14, 2018, (our mother , grandmother, sister, aunt ,and friend )Judy Blundon , nee Slade , who was carried by the angels into heaven to be with our dad William Blundon who passed away May 2017. Also awaiting for her are her two beautiful grandchildren Ashleigh and Brooke , parents Winnie and George Slade , in laws urias and Anne Blundon, sisters and brothers Donna , Will, Fred , Margaret and Ina.
Mom was surrounded by love as she passed at the Leonard A miller centre with Cynthia (Darryl ) , granddaughter and most treasured gift Brianna,David ( Kurt ) . Also left to mourn are her “boys” Greg and Jeff White. She will be deeply missed by her brothers Dennis ( Brenda) and Kevin (Dianne ), her nieces , nephews and many close friends . Thank you the palliative care unit at the Miller centre, home care workers, and oncology team and all those who have supported mom in the last few years.
Funeral arrangements are with Holloway’s funeral home in Whitbourne . Visitations will occur on August 16 -17 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 at St. John the Baptist church in Chapel arm. Burial will take place at 2:00pm on Saturday August 18, 2018. Internment to follow at St. John the Baptist cemetery on Long harbour road.

Passed peacefully away on Monday August 13, 2018 at Carbonear General Hospital, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving wife, children and families. Stephen Leonard Hillier age 37 years. Predeceased by his loving father Harvey Hillier, Grandparents Leah and Raymond Hillier, Emerson Mercer. Leaving to mourn with loving and cherished memories, wife Colleen, son Owen, daughter Hannah, Mother Maxine, sister Jennifer (Shawn) Drover, nieces Shelby and Shawna nephews Braden and Blake, Mother and Father-in-law Tom and Judy Harnum, brother-in-law Cory (Robyn) Harnum and a large number of aunts, uncles, family and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on July 15, 2018, Ruby Louise Newhook of Norman’s Cove in her 88th year. Predeceased by her parents, John and Winnie Piercey and infant son, John. Left to celebrate her life with beautiful and loving memories, her husband of seventy years, Absalom John. Her children: Linda (Aaron Mercer), Roger (Beulah), David (Lori), Eric (Valerie), Jennie (Lloyd), Philip (Karen), Keith (Laurie), Peter (Donna). 25 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; Sisters: Jennie (Jim Varner), Myrtle Hiscock, Doreen (Dick Riche) and brother Don (Winnie). Brother in Law: Joseph, sisters sin law: Verna and Hazel as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Passed peacefully away at her daughter’s home where she resided, in the company of her loving family, Marcella Thorne aged 88 years old.
Predeceased by her father Lawrence Fahey of Tickle Harbour, mother Mary Ellen Fahey of Chapel Arm, husbands Thomas Lewis and Clarence Thorne.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her 9 children: Madonna (Kevin), Nellie, Veronica (Don), Kathleen (Dale), Shirley (Freeman), Kenneth (Casey), Bernice (Kevin). Also loved and remembered by 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, as well as a large circle of family and friends and her two companions, cats Smokey and Bandit.

Arthur Brothers passed peacefully away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the Caribou Veterans Memorial Pavilion, St. John’s at the age of 96. He is predeceased by his wife Lucy of 52 years, his parents Dora and Clifford, five brothers: Gordon (Grey Islands), Ford (Fermeuse), Lar (Long Harbour), Reg (Charlottetown)and Bill (Corner Brook); two sisters: Patricia Infante (Ontario) and Marie Farrison (Ohio), also sister in laws Frances and Mary and brother in laws Al and Mario (Ontario), Max and Jack (St. John’s). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his 6 children: Jerry (Beulah), Kay (Anthony Keating), Monnie, Ann (Alton), Gerard (Pats) and Clifford (Carolann); five sisters: Gladys Usry, USA, Florence (Al Hopper) Ontario, Ann (Max Butler), Shir (Gary Hitchcock), Ontario, Beth (Jack Keating) and one brother Gord (Cecilia), Long Harbour and sister in law Mabel, Prince Edward Island. Also leaving to mourn are his 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, special neighbours Rita and Jerome Keating (Ontario) and a large circle of friends, as well as his dog Fido who was his faithful companion for a number of years. We are very grateful to the staff at the Veterans Memorial Pavilion for the excellent care he received for the past 22 months.
Arthur truly loved playing cards, especially crib. He worked hard all his life and enjoyed family gatherings, parties and dancing. He was a great carpenter and one of his favourite hobbies was making all sorts of crafts from coffee and end tables, crib boards, shelves, bookcases and windjacks.
