Phoebe Doris Temple

TEMPLE, Phoebe Doris Troke Fahey, October 23, 1921….. March 5, 2017. Phoebe passed away peacefully with family by her side at Carbonear General Hospital at age 95. Predeceased by husbands Edward (Ned) Fahey and William (Jack) Temple. Predeceased by sisters, Olive Annie and Earnistine. Survived by sister Georgina.
Predeceased  by children Lawrence, Shirley, Gerald and four babies. Survived by sons; Tom ( Doreen ), Francis (Lynn), Michael (Gloria), Edward (Lisa), Felix (Wende), and daughters Ellen, Ann (Tom), and Evelyn (Winston). Survived by 34 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 26 great great grandchildren.
Phoebe was the matriarch of her family and was loved by all who knew her. Phoebe raised 11 children on her own after her husband, Edward passed away.Phoebe was known for putting her children first, making sure they had the very best she could provide, taught her children from both the mother and father role. Phoebe loved when her children came to visit her by surprise. Her family was the world to her. Phoebe delivered  2 babies, ran her own store, would help anyone in need, would feed anyone who came into her house and was a strong, independent woman.
Visitation will be held at the Bethel United Church, Norman’s Cove on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 10:00 am to 9:30 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Bethel United Church in Norman’s Cove on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm.

  2. So sorry for your loss. I had met Phoebe several times in Montreal when she visited her son Gerald and daughter-in-law Wendy (my sister). She was a lovely and gracious lady. You were fortunate to have her as long as you did.

  3. We wish to give our condolences to Felix and his family. We apologize for the late signing of the memorial book, but know that you have had our sympathy all along.
