Denis Murphy

MURPHY, Denis,  May 4, 1917 – March 13, 2017. With gratitude for a long and happy life, filled with love and devotion to his family and service to others, the family of Denis Murphy, Long Harbour, announce his peaceful passing at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home in his 100th year. Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (2011) and son Aloysuis (1994).
Leaving to mourn his daughters; Cecilia (Gordon) Brothers, Bridget Keating and Yvonne Murphy; his sons; Terry (Betty), Gerard (Vivian), Dennis, Colin and Richard.
21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren,brother, Anthony (Anita), sister, Jenny Keating. and other relatives and many friends.
Special  thanks to the kind and caring staff of 3 south , St. Patrick’s Mercy Home, St. John’s where he resided for the past 5 years.
Visitation at Holloway’s Funeral Home, Whitbourne, Wed. 1:00 – 7:00. Thurs. 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. Funeral mass well be held at St. Francis Xavier Church, Long Harbour on Thursday at 2:00 pm. Cremation to follow.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to  St. Francis Xavier Church,  Long Harbour. 
Committal will  take place on May 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Long Harbour

  1. Cecilia and all the family, so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing – he had a wonderful life but it is always difficult to lose your loved one.   8. Our prayers and thoughts are with all the Murphy family at this sad time. We have lots of pleasant memories of time spent with Aunt Lizzie and Uncle Din – take solace in the fact they are both together again as they were in life. Rest in peace Uncle Din.

  9. We are so sadden to get the news of the passing of uncle Din.He was such a delight to everyone that surrounded him. I have such fond memories of him, he lived a good life .He will be missed. Our deepest condolences to all the family.
