At the tender age of 95 years Harriett Lenora Piercey (Hattie) passed peacefully away on May 19th 2017 at Placentia Hospital. Survived by her sister Bessie Newhook, daughters Dorothy Avery, Sue (Brad Trask), Ruby Williams, Kaye Cobb, sons Art (Isabel), Harold (Agnes), Lewis, Ken (Bertha) and daughter in law Donna, 16 grandchildren, 26 great grand children and one great-great grandchild 12 nephews and nieces. Predeceased by husband Albert, sons Robert, Wilbur, brother Arthur, son in law Eric Avery.
Born December 28, 1921 in Norman’s Cove the oldest of three. She married Albert in 1942 and filled their house with love and children. They were married for 72 years. During her life Hattie loved many things, caring for her family, spending time at the pond with her bamboo (fishing pole) in hand, berry picking, rabbit catching with Albert, her sister Bessie and brother-in law Lewis.
Her constant faith gave her strength and an inner peace, and the ability to cope with loss and sickness. She was an amazing woman who will be missed by many.
Resting at Bethel United Church, Norman’s Cove on Monday, May 22 from 12:00 -9:00 pm. Tuesday, 10:00 am – 12:00 noon .
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday May 23 at Bethel United Church, Norman’s Cove. Interment to follow at the United Cemetery, Norman’s Cove.

Love you and miss you Nan, I’m so glad you and Pop were such a big part of my life growing up, you were there when I got hurt (which was a lot) and always knew how to make it all better. So glad you and pop got to meet my wife and kids, just knowing you both were proud of me and are looking over us helps with the tears. Love you forever.
